Thread Starter
hey guys i have a question about this laptop, i got my G73S for free *grad gift* and am loving it but i want to upgrade to 16gb of ram because i have a few extra $ to spend and I am running auto cad and i do lag a little in it so id figure this could help.

i got 2 questions

1) does it matter the brand i buy for ram? or can i throw any ddr3 in it?

2) its upgradable to 16gb of ram, but where is the other 2 ram slots located... i can only see 2 from first glance i will look harder when i get home from school

1) The brand really isn't that big of an issue with a laptop. Usually only the bigger brands make laptop RAM anyways. Just check reviews and what not for the RAM.

I can make some recommendations if you need them.

ADATA 1600MHz 2x4GB:

G.SKILL 1333MHz 2X4GB:

I'd go for the ADATA because of the higher speed at the same timings and for only $5 more. Plus I have them in my ROG Asus laptop and they work great.

2) The other 2 slots are under the keyboard most likely. The laptop probably came with a CD that had drivers and manuals on it. Find the manual for your laptop and go to the upgrading section. It will have a step by step guide for you.

Hope I helped.
