WASD "Mini Review" First Time Mechanical

Thread Starter
I recently purchased my first mechanical keyboard from WASD Keyboards and wanted to share my positive experience with WASD and my new found respect for mechanical keyboards.

This isn't a comprehensive review of switch types, circuit boards, keycaps, etc...I don't pretend to be an expert, this review is coming from a complete novice.

For $119 shipped, WASD let me pick my key colors, switch types, whether I wanted my "WASD" keys different colors, laser or etched keys, and the color of my escape key.

As you can see I went with dark grey keys and a green esc button, and I went with brown switches.

This keyboard is a DREAM to type on, now whenever I use other keyboards it feels so crappy in comparison. I love the tactile feel and the clacky response of typing. Typing actually feels GOOD.

With that said, I highly recommend dealing with WASD if you are in the market for a mechanical keyboard. His website is slick, he shipped mine the same day I ordered it, and as far as I can tell from the reviews its on par quality wise with the more expensive Filco. For $119, I got to make my own keyboard, not pick one off the shelf, pretty cool!

Sweet keyboard ! I really like them also.I ordered a Deck that is supposed to be here today.I will try and post some pics and do a mini review myself. If for some reason I don't like it I will send it back and get a WASD keyboard.

That's a nice looking keyboard. If I didn't really like tenkeyless, I'd get a WASD for sure. The keys on yours look really nice, did he change the way he does the laser etching?

I'm with you. If they sold a tenkeyless I would own one. They just started doing laser etched keycaps, before they just had engraved, maybe that's what you are thinking of?

I placed an order for a WASD keyboard yesterday after reseaching mechanical keyboards for a few weeks, I went with the engraved option with cherry blues and dampeners. I am really looking forward to getting my first mechanical board!

I just got mine today as well. White keys with blue wasd and esc. Loving the brown switches. I actually went with engraved keys. Regretting it, I thought they would show up a little better. Already ordered a set of etched keys, just for the letters. Its really straining my eyes looking at the keys.

But that was my fault, the keyboard is awesome!
