Which AMD HD 6950 2GB is worth the money?

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I wanted to get a hd 6950 toxic at first but I have read that it isn't worth the cash.

I would like to see your opinions on the best AMD HD 6950 2GB.

Thanks

I beg to differ about the 6950 Toxic. I have done alot of looking into it. It comes with a dual BIOS switch. When the switch is flipped you get better performance than most 6970's. Infact I just orderd a Toxic 6950 and it should be here tomorrow!

I just got the Sapphire Dirt3 6950 2GB and all you have to do is flip the BIOS switch (once you find it, lol) and you have 1536 shaders The box is the biggest I've seen to date, lol. I haven't had any temp issues and I'm overclocked. On Furmark/Heaven2.5 I never go above 72C with a nice custom fan ramp in Trixx By the way, they are incredibly quiet compared to reference.

I'm very happy with my choice since its essentially a 6970 for $265 (-$20 MIR coming).

Go for HD 6950 Twin Frozr III it costs 259$ and with a good OC it outperforms HD 6970

TF III, Sapphire Dirt3 & TOXIC, and HIQ Dirt3, that's all I know of.

Everyone WHOA ! a second ...

Original Poster (Atham) ... please POST links from sites you plan on Buying from ... because the prices we pay in USA are different, therefore everyone's advice is based soley on THEIR experience NOT WHAT YOURS MIGHT BE ! ...

The ONLY way we can honestly HELP answer your question is to know what the costs of the cards will be to YOU ...

Here in the USA the TOXIC @ $270 USD is one of the BEST BUYS IMO, the DIRT3 CARD @ $245 USD is even MORE Budget friendly, but slightly lower performance and less chance of unlocking make it not as good of a buy IMO.

The MSI PE/OC TwinFrozrIII 2gb card is another GREAT Card and usually a GOOD BUY as well, though I've seen it's price jump dramatically higher up into the $350+ USD range as NewEgg is Out Of Stock on them and the TOXIC's so Amazon is ripping people off at the moment. At under $300 USD it's a GOOD BUY, but not above that ! when the FASTER TOXIC is $270.

Anyways to truely HELP you, post some sites so we can compare prices in your country.
