Gigabyte EP45T-UD3P with 4 sticks of ddr3 1600

Thread Starter
I am trying to run stable my Gigabyte EP45T-UD3P with 4sticks of ddr3 ram.

The ram is corsair xms3 dhx ddr3 1600 4x2GB total 8Gb of ram

The problem is that i cannot get them stable under memtest @ 1780mhz

My q9650 is running at 445x9 4005mhz and i want to run my ram 1:1 with the cpu

the bios dividers only gives me the ability to run my 4 sticks of ram @ 1780mhz which is 12:24 with the cpu option or 1424mhz which is 16:10 according to everest

so i am only left to run my ddr3 1600mhz at 1424mhz (underclocked) which is a pity i cannot even run the sticks at their stock speed of 1600mhz

any ideas on how to run the ram atleast at 1600mhz

this is the part number of the 4 corsair modules CM3X2G1600C9DHX

with 2 sticks i can run them @ 1780mhz and stable...but 4 sticks give lots of errors in memtest

also with 2 sticks the p45 runs happy with 1.1volts but with 4 sticks it needs 1.2volts

thank you for you help!!

Well it's hard to get that mobo stable with 4 RAM sticks an especially if you want to OC your memory..

I would recommend you to lower RAM speed in the exchange for stability as you would not notice any significant performance increase..

Also if you run your RAM at lower speed than rated 1600MHz you could try to run tighter/lower timings so you could get an extra performance..

I run my 1600MHz CL9 RAM @ 1224MHz 7-7-7-20 and I'm happy..

As matter of a fact my RAM @ 1224MHz CL7 (459MHz FSB) is faster than @ 1600MHz CL9 (400MHz FSB)..

1600MHz, 9-9-9-27:

1224MHz, 7-7-7-20

On the LGA 775 platform a higher FSB yields better system/memory bandwidth more than just higher RAM speed..

CHEERS..

i know i cannot reach the same speed of 1750mhz with 4 sticks but it`s a shame that the bios is not letting me run them at 1600mhz all of them!

the most i can get according to the bios is 1424mhz and i have to tighten more the timings to get the best possible speed from the sticks to compensate for the 1600mhz stocks speed loss.

currently i am running them at 1424mhz 7-7-7-24 2T 1.9volts which is not a huge performance loss against 2 sticks

Well you can't win them all..

I have a similar issue,as I can run my RAM @ 1600MHz with 400Mhz FSB..

But as soon as I go over 400MHz FSB then I cannot get my RAM anywhere close to 1600MHz wit using other RAM multipliers (tried 1377MHz, 1469MHz with 459MHz FSB)

Just settle with 1424MHz ,7-7-7-24 as that's a nice speed there, and plenty of bandwidth..

Yeah, now you see how my higher FSB (459MHz vs yours 445MHz FSB) closed the gap in memory bandwidth compared to yours even though you're running your RAM 200MHz faster than I do..

The difference in the memory bandwidth is minimal..

you have 2 sticks of 2gb right? so what`s the problem you can hit 1700+ mhz easily

with 2 sticks i used to run the ram @ 1780mhz with fsb 445mhz... CPU:RAM 1:1
