i ask because i think the x79s are designed the same way.
Yes, there are only two 6Gbps Intel ports. Not like HDDs will reach 3Gbps speeds anytime soon.

Maybe you haven't heard of Acronis?

Wait what does a back up software have to do with RAID speeds and TRIM/GC? I know it can back up the array, but how are you making that the answer to the speed need?

Just wondering?
yeah im not sure how Acronis prevents your Raid SSDs (no TRIM/GC) from performance degradation....i must be missing something..never heard of it.

So what exactly are you trying to imply because it seems like you're trying to imply multiple issues in one sentence.

First, you said SSD RAID is dumb. I'm assuming you meant reliability and that's why I said Acronis.

Your second part was in regards of speed, Vertex 3 doubles the speed of Vertex 2 and I'm sure by the time Vertex 4 comes out it will double the speed of Vertex 3. Therefore your issue with speed doesn't make any sense at all.

Lastly, you said No TRIM and GC, Vertex 3 has it's own GC therefore it mitigates the need for TRIM and that's why RAID is not an issue.

Extensive tests have been performed regarding TRIM vs GC. You can find answers all over this forum.

i was under the impression that TRIM/GC does not work in raid..but it seems like GC does. my bad - have fun with your sdds.

"Yes, there are only two 6Gbps Intel ports. Not like HDDs will reach 3Gbps speeds anytime soon."

i'm not talking about the hdds. i would like to know - how you are going to setup raid on the 4 ssds in that mobo?

disregard if you think my question makes no sense.

Yes how do you plan to raid them? Software? You do know that it's going to cause discrepancies not only because they're off different controllers but the non native controllers are already bottle necked being off a controller already.

This will be similar to using 2 different hard drives in a raid system.

Oh I understand the confusion now. There will be 2 systems each using two SSDs in RAID 0.

On another note my PC-P80N arrived yesterday. Didn't have time to take pictures from every angle imaginable as I will be taking it apart later for some cable management.

There's one thing I should note and in case anyone asks.

There is a bar that holds sagging video cards that comes this case, the reason I didn't use it is because it doesn't fit.

Lian-Li never had in mind that I was going to use a 140mm fan as a CPU cooler and it's the fan that gets in the way. What's also in the way is the dual 8-pin PCI-E connectors because, once again, Lian-Li somehow thought that all video cards have their connectors at the back of the card and not on the side.

Another thing about this case is the serious lack of cable management on the back of the mobo tray. The addition of mobo cutouts are nice, but you need something to tie down the cables once they're back there Lian-Li! Guess it's back to the drawing board for you.
