[Escapist] Rumor: Sony Developing Biometric Controllers - Page 2

They've been doing this without Biometric controllers with the help of a series of algorithms that estimate your stress/excitement from various factors such as your character's status, how hard you're mashing the buttons, the proximity/number of enemies and much more. They then used those calculations to not only adjust the game's difficulty but also change visual filters (such as a subtle increase to contrast) to further enhance/simulate the adrenaline rush of a huge battle.

TLDR: Yes and I can't wait to see where they're going to take it from here.

We need one that brings a UMAD FACE on the screen when it detects rage and anger.

1) Squeeze controller rage-like 24/7
2) Allow game to use aimbot for you in multiplayer
3) ???
4) Profit

Would have an interesting cascading effect if that was actually the situation.

This looks awesome but is it going to be like the sixaxis where only like 2 games take full advantage of it?

That would only make it worse.

I wonder if it will be able to tell if I'm drunk and put some sweet blurring effects in Gran Turismo 6!

I don't quite understand. Some people have higher heart-rates than others; some people sweat easier than others. What about changing climates? Maybe I need to read more into it, but it seems like it would be really hard to get this to work for everyone.

If it does work, it certainly opens up a lot of possibilities. Though, I kind of wish they would just change the controller for once. I liked the PS1 controller as a kid, but right now I can barely play shooters on the PS3 because it's so small and cramped. Not sure why, but the joystick positions on the 360 controller seem so much more natural.

Sounds cool but most of the time I just want to play a game without all of these gimmicks.

So if I go completely ape**** while playing and start having a mini heartattack or something, my guy will pretty much get superpowers?

I really hope it would just get harder the more stressed you are. That would be fun.
