GT335m not switching on notebook

Thread Starter
i have an alienware notebook i got in march and it does not have Nvidia optimus for its GT335m. i couldnt care less because i can switch the graphics from integrated to discrete by pressing FN- F6 on my keyboard. however, i downloaded the neweste drivers for my GPU from Geforce.com and a week after getting the drivers, my computer no longer even detects my graphics card.
i am hopeful the drivers are just screwey and messing with my GPU. anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

if you dont use dell drivers you cant do switching, I use nvidia drivers myself, and I went into the bios and enabled discrete mode, but that disables the intel card and uses the nvidia card exclusively. its up to you how you want to do it.

weird, I use the discrete mode just fine on mine, but yeah, if you use the dell drivers make sure to switch it back to switchable mode in the bios. (263.08 is the latest dell one)

I have been using discrete mode on mine since I got it, but to use the you have to use nvidia drivers, and you have to probably use driver sweeper as well after you uninstall the dell ones. I have had no problems with that myself on my m11x r1.

Update the drivers. I don't recall where I got mine, so no help there (try Dell/Alienware). Optimus sucks...

EDIT: Your M11xR1 didn't come w/ Optimus? Then just get the drivers from nvidia
Here's a link for Windows x64

yeah the R1 doesnt have Optimus, it uses some dell hybrid graphics switching tech and it came out right before Optimus did.

If it doesn't detect your GPU its probably your Nvidia profile or your power settings. HWmonitor won't even read the GPU if you have the main profile in Nvidia as Integrated graphics.

As far as switching goes, I had that problem, actually the old bios update made my GPU stutter really bad, it'd go from 0% usage to 50% usage every few seconds for no reason... The new drivers work just fine for it now. Give that a try. Make sure you delete the old drivers in the folder and the registry.

alright thanks for the help guys, i seem to have fixed it. all i did was install my old drivers from dell. i dont know why the new ones dont work let alone why it took so long for them to screw with my card.
