Benchmark wise. With that extra 1Ghz of speed overtake 2 extra cores and 4 HT's?

Depends on what you are doing. Do you need to run lots of applications simultaneously? Are the applications you run highly multithreaded?

For most games out there, anything more than 2 cores is overkill. For the rest, more than 4 is overkill. So if you are looking at a Gaming processor, then the 1GHz will make far more difference than two more cores and HT.
