Well what a coincidence , my asus motherboard made very weird sound on the caps just right after I started folding more seriously around 18-24hours per day...
Im not sure if I want to start fold again after that incident

Sure I got warranty and all, but its too bad to gamble with luck twice, I think...

I had the Asus m4a79T deluxe board for my am3 cpu (140W ed), and it was clocked as high as 3995mhz, but downclocked to 3.6ghz when I started to fold.

A friends Asus X58 maximus board also went pretty unstable after 1-2 months folding.

Im not sure but, it seems folding really takes it toll on systems 2years old or more.
I also had a brand new OCZ Gold 1250W PSU so its not that it didn't have power.

im not trying to paint the devil on the wall here but, I had some rough experience with folding for now

IF I start again I wont be using 100% on the CPU that's for sure

i might decide to pause of folding until i get a dedicated rig. i will continue to fold on my ps3 tho. i will have to ask around to see if there is any do's or dont's for folding to preserve the hardware.

the cap can end itself. but no more catastrophic than a comp just burning up normally lol.

i ran my squeely 4670 for like 2 years before retiring it becuase of noise.

i swapped out the gpu and the sound is still present. so if the cap blows or whatever it wont affect any other hardware? not sure if i understood that the way it was intended
