Objectives: Silent for music production, sleek aluminum, MUST fit my parts, air cool and OC to 4.5-5gz

Parts: x79 UD5 gigabyte mobo, 3930k Sandy bridge E, silver arrow cpu cooler, SSD drive , regular nividia GPU in the $150 range, still wan't to be able to run games like Hitman 5, Maxpayne 3, saints row 3 at at least 70-80% specs.

Im still not sure if the 8 dimm slot x79 boards are extended, and if they are does that mean they won't fit?

Havent decided on other parts but those are the mains, and decided to go AIR cooling because a silver arrow and some after stock case fans are cheaper than any decent water kit.

I would love to OC and fit my parts in these mid towers, possible?
I'm leaning towards the cheaper Lian Li because of my budget, only $94 on ebay!

Thanks!

Please explain votes! I can't understand why the Z60 is $100 more, besides having a few more perks.

I've never had a problem fitting eatx into standard mid tower cases. However that doesn't mean it will work in those particular cases. First link didn't seem to work. $200 seems pricey for the 2nd case given the features, but then I guess AL cases are.

If you're going silent, I would have thought you'd want a bigger case with more passive airflow, maybe even a fully passive water cooled system. Certainly it's almost impossible to hit 5.0ghz on air and be close to silent. This will also effect your choice of gpu, a regular nvidia gpu can often be very loud, your best bet would be a 460/560 or even the lesser cards like a 440/430.

I think you have to decide whether you're really going for silence or performance. You can't have both while sticking to air cooling.

See I don't know about that, my GPU will only really be making noise while Im gaming, which is rare, and I'll change the stock fan on that.

Every Mac Pro Mid tower you see in studios have always been so quiet, without being acoustically treated and using stock fans (not OC'd). You think if I coat the inside with insulation, replace all the stock fans including GPU, and OC to 4.5-5 that it would almost be silent? I don't need dead silence.

Water cooling is too expensive if you wan't to do it right, I wouldn't WC without a pump, res, 3 fan rad, awesome blocks, etc, full loop, that would come to around $300 and give me diminishing returns when clocked to 5.3gz we'll say. 4.2 - 4.6 is the sweet spot when doing audio, depending on cpu.

Will having a full tower really be that much better for air and temps? Would this kill my cpu quicker? I'd be happy with 4.3gz

Also, could someone please tell if there is SATA 3 support for SSD and HD? What should the specs say here:

I'm pretty sure an xspc rasa rx240 will do a cpu only loop fine. put quad fans on the RX240 and make them low dba, should be fine. That is a lot less than $300 my friend.

A little more than $200 with tax, shipping, and fans, much more expensive than a silver arrow and replacing stock fans. What clock speeds should I expect from that set up, say for a 2600k?

What is maintenance like using distilled?

Hmm how much is tax?
171 with Facebook coupon code and shipping at jabtech. Add some Xigamatek fans for $6.99 and it should still be under $200.

Im not sure exactly. I know it kills any air cooler in existence, I recommended it for you because you wanted silence an the RX series gives high performance on low rpms basically.

After first few days of maintenance and checking, i imagine having to change your water quarterly to every trimester.

What about maintenance for cleaning out blocks, or should I just do that every time I change the water.

Well I'm guessing 5gz at least then if 2600k can get to 5 on air, with high volts of course.

So then my best bet is the $100 case with this type of water cooling, all together will be around $300, which is the same $ as the other case with fans.

Any other set ups like that with clear parts? Having all black makes me paranoid in case of build up. Also is there even LGA socket 2011 on the market yet?
