SmoothWall issues with Origin

Thread Starter
I just moved to the city and the apartment building that I live in was prewired for internet, I went ahead and signed up. Little did I know it had various ports, servers and sites blocked by a Smoothwall firewall. Long story short I am unable to connect to alot of my universities drop box servers, my ftp and more importantly I cannot connect to the Origin web store.

What can I do on my side to be able to bypass the Smoothwall so I can connect to Origin and finally play BF3.

I would try first going through proper channels such as the support for your apartment's internet to see if you can get it unblocked. If that fails you could try VPN, you could get a VPS for under $10 a month or if you're not interested in setting up your own VPN there are other options out there

I would say it shouldnt take more than an hour or 2 tops. Here are some how-to's. You can rent a VPS to run it from for ~$5USD, just make sure you read their ToS as some providers do not allow VPNs run from their network.
