Help me choose: 1090T or 980 BE

Thread Starter
Hey guys. My 965 BE crapped out on me, so I'm going in tomorrow to buy a new processor. Just to let you know what kind of things I do on my computer, I am a streamer and a gamer. I stream video games. Which processor would be the best for the buck, and for what I am doing?

1090T
980 BE?

I am leaning towards the 1090T. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you guys.

EDIT: Oh, and I am planning on overclocking as well.

The 2 extra cores would really help make the difference. I say get the 1090T.
If you are going to be playing bf3 totally go for the 1090T as that game is very heavily threaded and will actually use all 6 cores (rumor has it it uses all 8 "cores" on the BD even).

I don't know if two cores would make much of a difference in anything, but the Thuban's are supposed to overclock really well. And two cores means bigger e-peen.

I would get the 960T. its a Thuban 4 core. It OC's like a 6 core, and can be unlocked. If you decide for the 980, dont. Get the 955BE, if you get the 980 your paying extra money for a factory overclocked 955BE.

um, BF3 would like to have a word with you. The IPC on i7s is good enough, but the Phenom IIs aren't, so the extra 2 cores makes up for that in BF3.

i was thinking the 1090t for the 2 extra cores because i am streaming and gaming at the same time. with my 965 i even noticed that the stream was getting sluggish. without streaming the game ran fine. so that was an indication that 4 cores probably wasn't enough to run it at full performance. only problem is i don't know if i'll be able to oc it as much as even when i had my 965 be.

My 1090t was a way better clocker than my 965 C3. I expected it would put out more heat and thusly not clock as well. This was not the case.

Thubans are great chips, especially considering the price.

960T can be unlocked to a full 6 core think of it as the 6950 of CPU's

Yeah, I had a hell of a time getting my 965 BE to just 3.9 GHZ. I hear the 1090 overclocks really well, which is why I am leaning towards it.
