What are my options?

Thread Starter
I recently bought some Corsair Vengeance ram. I was originally going to get a Corsair H80. But after reading reviews and opinions i might have changed my mind and decided to go with air. Only problem is that i can't use the best option by many the D14. Heat spreaders are too tall.

Q1 - Can i get some options on CPU coolers? I'd prefer a push/pull configuration.

Q2 - Does anyone use Megahalems or any Prolimatech coolers anymore?

My case is a Lian Li PC-A70F http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product...ndex=61&g=spec

It has two 140mm fans up front and two 120mm fans for exhaust. I've already replaced them with Xigmatech extreme silent series fans.

The tall vengeance might be a problem with rifle configuration coolers. I would suggest one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103100 and slap a more powerful 140mm fan on it.

The tall Vengeances won't work with a D14
post #6 of 10
It would be a close one, but the Coolermaster Hyper 212 series coolers will fit with the vengeance ram (I use the plus myself, although the evo is the latest and greatest). It's very affordable, and probably the best bang for the buck. $35 from newegg before shipping, and will cool as well as most $60-70 air coolers from what I've read and experienced.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103099\\

Edit: Or have you considered upgrading your ram with just 2x4gb sticks to give yourself more clearance for the cooler you really want, plus moar ram?

Arimis5226 - I have two 4gb sticks of Vengeance on the way. So no i won't be filling all my ram slots up. Just two for now. But i do think that someday i'll upgrade to more ram.

if that is the case then those rams will work. do not fill the first slot.

Contacted Newegg. They told me if i refused delivery from UPS it would be returned and i would get a full refund without stocking fee's. Might go with Ripjaw X's. Then i could buy different ram that would give me more choices for coolers.

Yeah, this is what I was implying. If you are only using 2 sticks of ram, seems to me like you really shouldn't have a problem mounting whatever air cooler you'd like, so long as it fits in your case.
