Why are hard drives so EXPENSIVE

I dont know if I missed something. Over this summer I been super busy and not really had time to get on my PC. Now I am starting to get back into it I want to add a few hard drives new GPU etc etc. I just noticed that hard drives went up allot at Microcenter and newegg I am really confused what have i missed?

I would expect HDD pricing to experience a sharp spike both with the flooding and with the build up to black friday. Unless you're absolutely dying for a new HDD atm, it would be best to wait a few months for supply to return to normal :/

The lowest price I have seen here in Australia is $98 for a Seagate 1TB, from MSY. There has been flooding going on in main manufacturing plants as everyone else stated, which is pretty stupid that all the main factories are in one place.
I don't think HDD prices will go down for a while now, so whoever wants to build a rig, consider saving an extra $100+ for a HDD

Dang. Will I do need a new drive my main boot drive just failed on me today. So tomorrow im going to microcenter try find a good deal there. Ill just stick to a budget until things return to normal to get back into HDDs.
