Usually you have a choice if you're within the return period.

Seriously, if you got it by a CC have the CC company deal with it and explain fully they sold you an item YOU didn't order and screen cap both sites. Or try NCIX again and explain what you will be doing if they don't take care of it. Honestly like you said it's hard to blame, and have to screw, NCIX but if MSI isn't doing a damn thing about it that's what you have to do. Third option is still trying to get MSI to send you a reference 570. good luck.

Ok so i guess the plan will be:

1. Contact MSI cs and demand to replace the card, letting them know that this story has been posted on 5 different PC hardware forums and got hundreds of views already.

2. In case if MSI refuses to replace the card/pay shipping open paypal dispute which i used as a payment method (God i hate to deal with RMA )

So msi customer service wasn't very helpful either. The gentlemen on the phone clearly had no idea what i am talking about.

After repeating s# of my Frankenstein card 15 times and holding for 10 minutes the guy kept telling me that according to their system the card is a gtx 570 with p# N570GTX-M2D12D5.

So i kept trying to explain that yes, its a gtx 570 but not the one you Guys have on the msi website - its a 570 chip on the 470 pcb and with 470 cooler on it and its NOT what you and reseller show on the pictures,

But its a 570 - he kept saying

Yes, but its not the reference 570 with vapor chamber cooler that's on your website.

In the end he said that they wont be able to help and i need to contact NCIX.

I'd just ask to speak with a "very" knowledgeable person on graphics cards or just one that just has higher power.

Dude return it and get a refund.

That's illegal in Australia but I don't know if it is in America.

I wouldn't deal with MSI directly. You deal with a manufacturer when you have a faulty card covered under warranty. You should deal with NCIX (who will in turn deal with MSI if they want). The fact of the matter is, you bought a product from a vender and received a different product than advertized. Hammer NCIX about it, if they don't agree to make it right, open a paypal dispute citing fraud and product not as advertized. Make sure to take plenty of pictures and video, with you in them.

Call NCIX. If the person you speak to says they can't help you, ask to speak to a supervisor. Remember : all calls are monitored so, if you ask for a supervisor, 99% of the time, you'll get one.

Explain to them thoroughly what the deal is. Let them know "I'm not trying to cause a problem here but, I paid money for a certain product and received another. If MSI's products aren't matching their adverts you people take that up with them."

That's a lame a-- deal they shot your way, man. Pfff.

Give NCIX another ring tomorrow. If you get nowhere file a claim with the BBB.org.

This is shady practice and I've seen similar things from MSI with the GTX 570/480 Frankensteins, but at least those had a more capable cooler than the 470s.

At least I'm sure of what I'm getting when buying EVGA, aside from the certain cases where they were shipping 580s without heatspreaders so people who wanted waterblocks on their cards needed to RMA to do so because fitment wasn't right.

It's the same thing on both sides of the fence. AMD's XFX does shady things, but never like this.

Ok, so i guess finally some good news:

after posting on the few different forums and telling my story of a scary Frankenstein NCIX representative contacted me through on one of them and apologized for the experience i had with NCIX, she asked to email her my info so she could take care of the problem through customer service supervisor.

Thats the power of forums!
