Downgrade. No. Keep it till CFX drivers are somehow so troublesome till you cant stand it or you need Cuda or a single Nvidia/AMD card gets close to its performance or DX12 comes out. For now, a single GPU card won even touch 5970 CFX/

The only things better than a 5870 CFX is 6950 CFX (maybe), 6970 CFX, 570 SLI, 580 SLI, 590 & a 6990.

Yep. As you can see, Cypress XT (full shader HD 5800) setups are significantly stronger than a 6970.

If you don't mind CF profiles (and possible issues to a degree), I'd suggest a pair of reference 6970's.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150517

You can have two for roughly $600, which would spank a 580 while having a stronger Volterra 8-phase Digital PWM (against nVidia Analog 6), more vRAM and the real-time XFX support. If you're willing to sped more, 580 SLi would be faster as you'd expect.

BTW Joe, enjoying the Extreme7? Was going to ask but always missed it when you posted right after me.

Two 5870's in crossfire are just fine for now i can play BBC3 on ultra at around 100 FPS. I'm glad i bought another 5870 for crossfire instead of getting a new 6000 series card. Two 5870's kills a 580, and if it can do that you can play any thing. I may upgrade when the 8000 series comes out or until DX12 comes out on new architecture.
