Tritton AX720's w/ a Xonar DG... Amazing. (To me, anyway. I'm a sound noob though)

The bass is great through the DG now. I listen to metal btw. \\m/

I did not think the 550s had a better sound stage than my 580s but they did have deeper bass. Both are a good choice but I ordered both from amazon to compare when I was shopping and I ended up keeping the 580s. In the end, either one is a good choice.

I've known some people who had rattling in their headphones when they turned music up loud. For the HD 595's that is. Does this happen to your set?

I think you may have had the 2 swapped around in your head. The Pro 550 has a more airy open sound. The 580s have fatter bass imo. I say this because stock for stock, they're about the same bass wise, but if you EQ them or amp them the 580s have way more potential to sound bassy. In fact, the 580s are one of the bassiest headphones you can buy. 50mm driver Only like the XB Sony series has more and c'mon, who's gonna' spend their money on that unless they're strapped for cash and only want to listen to dubstep.

A lot of people say the 580s actually have more detail than the 550s despite being the cheaper headphone. What you're lacking on the 580 is the open sound and soundstage the 550s provide.

I haven't and I'm pretty sure I have listened to these things as loud as anyone else would dare to. I play in a band and sometimes we end up practicing in some tiny ass locations with a full 1600 Watt PA system with mains, subs, and monitors all rigged up. In other words I listen to stuff loud all the time. Regardless I've yet to hear any rattling in my HD 595's lol.
