How to remove Accelero thermal adhesive?

Okay long story short i'm selling my AXP fitted GTX480 but I would like to fit the stock heatsink and keep the Accelero for my next card. The RAM and VRM sinks have been glued on with the thermal adhesive that came with the cooler, is it safe to attempt to get them off or is it likely to pull chips if I try?

I was in the same situation with my HD 5870.

I wiggled the heatsinks back and forth until they became a little loose then took them off. A few of them never came loose so I just ripped them off (not straight off, pull them to one side or the other). There was no damage, but I had to clean off the glue residue. The RMA went through just fine. =D
