I'm no expert, but if you're going to use your headphones mainly for gaming, you should look for headphones with good soundstaging, and most likely some good noise isolation as well...BUT! The most important question by far, is...how much are you willing to spend on a pair of headphones?
This is a pretty good guide, giving a basic rundown on things to avoid, things to look for, etc in a pair of headphones. Not too sure on how up to date the headphone reviews are though, but you can still get a general idea of what you want by following this guide.
One thing I should mention is that the prices shown are in $US. Also, I am currently waiting for a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50s, which is said to have quite the booming bass, which is great right now since I'm going through a Drum & Bass phase. Other than that, good luck, and happy hunting! Edited by beegeehost - 11/3/11 at 5:21am
