antec kuhler 920 high temps?

Thread Starter
hi! im not sure my 920 is performing as it should, i got an i7 2600k, and at stock speeds im getting 55-57c load. i have seen some benchmarks, and people have gotten like 44c with the same specs. is there anything wrong with it?
also, i would like to change my fans, the stock ones is as loud as a hurricane, would the scythe gentle typhoon be a good choise? the problem is that i want them to be controlled by Chill Controll, but i heard that the scythes doesn't suport it.
are there any other good choises?

thanks

If you go with a push/pull setup of GT's you should see a drop off in noise and a drop in temperatures. IMO 55 - 57c under load isn't bad temps, it will give you some good overclocking headroom as you're good till ~ 80c so you have 20ish Celsius to play around with.

How is your radiator setup? I had a huge improvement on my H60 moving it to intake cool air from the front.

I also moved it from the back sucking in, to the front sucking in and it dropped temps a lot. Keeps the natural flow going. Seems like it got hot exhaust air from GPU and PSU being mounted in the back.

well, antec FAQ said that it would perform just as good sucking air from the case, but i'll try that.
the only thing that worries me, is that it will blow hot air into my case

It's doesn't, at least for me. Just flipping it around when I had it mounted in the back, blowing hot air backwards into the case, dropped my temps by a few c because air was cooler.

I have 3 x 120mm fans exhausting. And my side panel has 2 x 120mm fans blowing in over the vrms and the GPUs.

I think if you have enough exhaust, things stay cool relative to the ambient temperature. It's really just trial and error. Every case has it's own air flow characteristics, you just need to find what's best for you.

i see your load temperatures with the 2500k is 60-65c at 4,7ghz 1,4v, but on my 2600k@4,5 ghz with 1,29v i get around 70c, maybe it because of the hyperthreading?
i tried just now to turn the fans around, it only got like 1-2c cooler, pluss i reseated the pump with some AS5.
nice rig btw

No different than if you had an air cooler. My GPU temps did go up a few degrees.
