No power at all through PC

Hiya guys,

My friend called me up yesterday so I could help him install a fresh copy of Win7, prior to this I had just built him a nice PC and it was working fine (without an OS). So anyway I tell him to change his boot priority to disk drive the insert the win7 disk, he does it, saves the BIOS settings and reboots... except he doesn't.

The power doesn't come on at all, or so he says, I made him double check everything, making sure the power button wire is connected to the correct place on the MB, making sure the wall switch is on, different sockets and power connectors... still nothing.

Now I find it completely WEIRD that his PSU would suddenly just stop working, after-all it's my old PSU (OCZ StealthXStream 600W) so I was wondering if you guys had any alternative solutions to this.

He has an i7 system with a GTX560Ti, 600W should be enough and even if it wasn't, he didn't even get a chance to boot into an OS so he could've only been using like 1/8th the full output of the PSU.

Tl;dr My friends computer wont turn on, could it be anything other than the power supply?

Cheers Guys,
Acrylic

So no power, as in not a single light on the machine, no response what so ever? Did he smell anything? First i would double check the breaker/outlet, could be an old house with bad/insufficient wiring. Other than that, try a different PSU and find out. For some reason I bet that the power switch on the back of the PSU is flipped, thats the only time even with a burned PSU that I have had no reaction what so ever

He said over the phone he smelled burning, he hasn't got a spare PSU and because of his and my work hours I can't get to see him until next week to let him use mine. I made him triple quadruple check the switch at the back was pointing to on.

then its 99% likely it is the PSU, though not really much you can do until it is confirmed
