Looking for decent GPU

Thread Starter
So, as the title says; I'm looking for a proper decent GeForce GPU.

Now I'm not that of a hardcore gamer, more a hardcore console gamer. But when a good PC FPS game comes out, I'd like t play it. Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for example. I also like to play, Crysis, Crysis 2 and Far Cry 2 etc.

So I don't want the best of the best, either do I want the worst of the worst... I'm looking for a good price/performace balanced card. Which can play the named games as high as possible (obviously), @ 1080 pixles (I game on my TV).

nVidia only please. If ATi has something much better for about the same price or less, I'll consider it.

Signature rig is the rig.

560ti is a great GPU and not the best of the best...... no idea what your budget is?

AMD equivalent is a 6950 or 6870...

I don't have a budget, yet. I mean, there can only be 1 GPU that has the best price/performance, right?

But, I was thinking about US$150 or so?

I was going to reccommend the 560Ti too

However if you're looking to upgrade in the future get a GTX 460, they're a good £30-50 less then a 560 and they're very SLi-able, however if you're willing to pay that bit extra get a 560 as they SLi just aswell and are slightly better than the 460's.

Well for $150 you might have to go with a 550ti or HD6850

However you will get way better performance out of a 560ti which I think is the best bang for buck nVidia has out right now. Little more expensive though this is the cheapest one on newegg

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814134137

If you don't mind stepping back a generation the nVidia 460 can be had for cheap right now and they are good fast cards too..

Ok. I'm going to pick up aa ASUS GTX590 for €199 in a shop, new, not bad. Because I saw it online for €191, I could buy it for €199 instead of €249. Good deal.

560ti will run around low to mid $200's and probably is the best value card you can get. Naming off BF3 and Crysis, you definately will not max out either of these games, but definately run it on High with good FPS, you'll just have to play with the AA to see what comes out best. If you want to stick to 150ish, look at Black Friday and Cyber Monday and see if you can get one then for a good price. Otherwise watch out for ATIs 6870 and 6950.

u want a decent gpu? Get a gtx 570 and overclock the hell out of it.

580 is a rip off for 1080p. And 570 SLI has nearly the same performance as 580 sli. 570 is the way to go nowadays, all the cool kids are doing it !

And plus, even tho the 560 ti can handle its own, it's cuda cores will start loosening up when the eye candy starts being cranked. The extra 250mb vram that the 570 has helps in many many cases. Especially for Bf3 and upcoming titles like Arkham City.
