Imperator just now started having tracking issues.

Thread Starter
... on my cloth pad. It's the a4tech x7 gaming pad I got for 4€ almost a year back, something that has worked wonderfully with my older gen imperator for all that time.

However, in the last 3 weeks or so, the tracking isn't that great. Let's say I swoop across my 6528 pixels wide desktop at medium speed, in like 2 seconds, it has at least two sudden stops that last for maybe 0.1s or so. Same applies in games, where I can be aiming, or turning around, and the mouse will just experience these sudden stops that only last for a fraction of a second.

It's quite annoying. And it doesn't happen if I don't use the mouse pad, not on the white ikea galant table. But that's too rough for daily usage.

I'm making this thread because I want to have the insight of some of the people here. Anyone have any clue as to what the issue is?

Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Really simple / stupid suggestion... but have you looked at the lens? I always have to clean my mouse every week because there's usually always hair getting in the lens hole. You also said you're using a cloth pad, try cleaning the cloth pad as well. It's possible it's dirty which is causing poor mouse performance.

Sounds like your possibly hitting the malfunction speed. Malfunction speeds change depending on the surface as well, which is why you may not be hitting it on your desk.

It doesn't seem to have anything on it, and I've tried blowing on it, but the sensor hole is small, and I don't think I could manage to clean the sensor without disassembling the mouse somewhat.

Used to not happen anywhere, and even considering that, it also happens when I move the mouse slowly.

Hmm odd, do you have a can of air to possibly blow out the sensor? It also could possibly dead spots on your mouse pad. Do you have another mousepad that you would be able to try and see if you get the same results?

You could possibly just use a notebook/book/folder just to see if it shows the same results as when its on the desk.

You'll have to try another mousemat imo. I have a large collection of mice and mousemats and have experienced what I prefer to call "judder" on certain comnbinations.

Is the mousemat multi-colored? This can cause a loss of tracking too.

Dumb question, but sometimes when new updates come out they're missed.

I'm going to assume your on latest drivers for Imperator?

Driver 1.02 and Firmware Updater 1.16

If your Imperator is a new 2012 then these are your driver / firmware updaters.

2012 Imperator is on Driver 2.00 and Firmware Updater 1.01.

I used to use this mouse couple months ago I have to say that this mouse was so bad that I could not use it for gaming.

The symptom that you stated about is same the thing that happened to me too. This Imperator does not like my mousepads such as 4HD or Razer Extract Mact, sometimes it stops for mili-seconds without reasons and sometimes it has bad tracking issue which is called axis lock-up.

I used the mouse with many surfaces and found out that common surface such as wooden desks, white papers, magazines and even glass will help this mouse tracks better than expensive mousepads.

I suggest you could try Razer Mantis Control which is normal for this mouse but not good performance or do not use any mousepad at all. In addition, you need to un-plug the mouse and blow a wind from your mouth to the sensor few times. All I could say about this mouse is good for office work but not for gaming. Good job, Razer! 80$ for a crappy mouse.

Hi! I am sorry to dig this topic up but currently I have news for you guys, especially who are using this mouse. I noticed that if you use native DPI (800-1200-1800...) and turn off LED light of the mouse, you could solve the power management problems, skipping pixel and freeze. Unfortunately, the jitter and z-axis problem are still there. I have been testing this mouse with Razer Omega Galiathus for a week now and hope this was not a placebo. I am using the mouse with newest firmware and driver.
