Unlocked a X2 555 BE but i have some questions to answer - Page 2

No , vrm's aren't heatsinked. I have pretty good air flow in my case, that should keep em rather cool. My system temperature when running prime is 36c.
I decided to OC cpu to 3.6 tommorow and find lowest stable voltage.
I have done some oc before as a dual core and results were rather good.
4ghz at 1.36 v rock stable after 7hours prime. Thanks a lot for tips !!!

This board is a 3+1 phase on faulty design and is NOT ready for an unlock. This particular board has been seen by other members, VRM blowing on 95W quad cores running the stock cooler and getting adequate cooling. Heatsinked or not, you should not be unlocking.

XD,

asking for answer to this with his situation. So the 785 chipset unlocks and gigabyte says its a 4+1 phase board. How would a person who doesn't have access to the data we have know it wouldn't be a good idea ? Is there basic information that is given bby a motherboard manufacturer for you to be certain it would be able to be stable when you unlock ?

I think, I may be wrong, he is stating that its more likely to have issues with it. It's like a surgeon generals warning of sorts.

Looks like I searched up the wrong board and this one is a 4+1 phase VRM desgn. However I maintain that it is unsuitable for unlocking and overclocking, for it does use an older design also known to be faulty when attempting to drive power-intensive quad cores, after long periods of time.

Thank you XD for an advice.
What i really dont understand is, why Gigabyte allows even Thuban for that MB.
After all I will stay with quad setup for some time and will see how this gonna work.
