Resovior Mounting Brainstorming

I plan on getting the Phobya Balancer 450, and mounting it in my Xigmatek Elysium case

See this review for more interior photos and dimensions.

So that it stands vertically and is visible in the window on the right of the side panel.

How might I do that?

To make it better visible, I think it should be towards that side, not mounted directly on the motherboard's level. Maybe make some kind of stand-off that I screw to the back face, and screw the res's clips to that. How?

Attaching it to the drive stack might work, as there are a couple cross-bars you can see in the photo. I could replace those with something wider, or screw another one in a similar position. But I don't want it to be in the way of my DVD or other drives, so it really needs to be a couple inches left of that.

I'm contemplating making a stand-off as a square of aluminum stock; two lengths of L and two lengths of square. That makes it easy to fasten together using screws.

Any other ideas?

Drill two holes into the plexiglass for the screws that go into the mounting clamps. Done.

Then how do I open the case? The res would come with it when I open that panel.

I'd rather have the clips in the back, or anywhere other than crossing the view of the unit itself.

All you have to do is have a little bit of slack in the tubing going to the reservoir. Enough that you can take off the cover slightly and pop the reservoir in/out of the clamps. As for crossing the view, what would you see in that spot normally? Maybe some SATA cables.

Hi,

Resevoirs are different but just take some aluminum strap and
suspend it from the top of the case.

Pic of mine but can adapt to yours.
Straps just off to the top right of the res.

The crossbars on the drive stack would be the first thing I'd look into. I had a similar concern with my build, thought I might not have enough space for my DVD drive but the plastic clips add about a 1/2in of room.

the DVD drive is the gray thing behind the res's, the clips offset the res's just enough for the SATA cables. Obviously not the same case or res but maybe it will help.

If you absolutely must use the big one, I'd say drill two holes in between those cable grommets to the right of the motherboard and mount it there.

Also have you measured the case to see if you have the clearance for a 450mm res? Keep in mind any space needed for tubing going in the top or bottom of the res.

I have this case, my optical drive doesn't stick out past the crossbars but its cables do about 1/4". Should be enough clearance with just the res holders.

You should also be able to mount on the mobo tray but if you want it to be centered in the window you'll have to drill some new mounts for your brackets and res holders.
