Non-Bulldozer Setup - GTX 560 TI SLI - 650W PSU? X3? Batman? 1080p

Thread Starter
I swore I needed at least a 750W PSU to run a GTX 560 TI SLI setup. Lately, people are telling me otherwise.

SO!!! I bought a second MSI GTX 560 Ti from a friend for an SLI setup.

1) Is this overkill just to play Batman Arkham City?

2) Will my XFX 650W work with the CPU OC'd and both GPUS moderately OC'd to 950MHz?

3) Will the X3 bottleneck the SLI setup to the point that I would care? (Below 70 FPS at any point of Crysis 2 on MAX and Arkham City at Max)

By max, I mean at 1080p with the settings within the GAME on max. I have the latest patches for Crysis 2 with high detailed textures and more.

It will work. I ran SLI 560Tis on my 650 Antec PSU.

Not sure about your CPU. It might bottleneck just a bit.

Yes you can run it in sli and I don't see why you would have any issues but.... you are going to be at 70-80% loaded on that PSU. It's a PC power and cooling design so I'll assume it actually puts out more than rated.

Not sure about the X3 bottleneck.

edit: here's a suggestion - run 3dmark06 stock and note your sm2/3 scores and then overclocked, it those get higher you might have a bottleneck

oh and rarely will you ever have someone here admit something is overkill

I'm not sure what you're telling me to do. What am I supposed to overclock the GPU or the video card? Hopefully, there won't be a bottleneck.

Gotta look for my 6-pin modular cables...WHERE CAN THEY BE?

Edit: Holy Crap...GTX 560 SLI can't play Crysis 2 on Ultra settings. What a surprise. I don't even think it's b/c of my tri-core b/c GPU usage is around 97%.
