5850 dumb question

Thread Starter
ok, first time trying to really overclock my 5850 and cant go over 775 on core(max of the slider) and cant go over 1125 on mem. voltage i can move it all the way to 1350 but i know that is overkill and i have not applied anything. i just want to know if there is a way to raise the bars higher than they are. thanks

Sure, by using MSI arfterburner you could.

Make sure you GPU and VRMs are not getting too hot.

Use GPU-Z to monitor this.

I would never go beyond 1.16 volt with my 5850 because it has less VRMs than 5870 has.

One thing is sure, the 5850 remain an overclocking beast. Keeping it at stock speed is a crime.

Look in config file, there is a setting for enabling unofficial OCing.

I had to do the same.

Those are hard set in the bios. You need to edit the bios of the card.

dam, got it. forgot about this

I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
now sliders go to 1090 core and 1300 memory

I used Catalyst Controller to OC mine, and it's the nuts now! Only issues are AMD's 11.10 CAP3 drivers are definitely NOT the nuts...
