[AMD] Buy AMD - get BF3 free - Page 4

The dirt3 deal made me so angry. If i didnt run it off an ssd the game will begin to stutter do the my harddrive not keeping up with the youtube recording feature that i neither use or am able to disable! And no, i dont own another storage device. This hdd came from a lappy. So i guess you plain and simple cant play it on a laptop?

Wha...? I have a HORRIBLY slow hard drive in my desktop (5400 rpm 1TB that's half-filled), and don't have ANY stutter problems with DiRT 3 - it is perfectly smooth. If I try to play BF3 on ultra, it stutters away because of the HDD, even though my graphics card is plenty capable of it, so that just goes to show how terrible it is.

"Get Battlefield 3™ FREE* with select AMD products" -AMD

And the asterisk says:

"*Internet connection and acceptance of Origin and Electronic Arts, Inc. end-user license agreements required. Obtain download code from participating retailer. Download code is used at www.amd.com/battlefield3 to obtain digital key which is used only at store.origin.com to download expansion pack. A FULL VERSION OF THE "BATTLEFIELD 3" PC VIDEO GAME MUST BE PURCHASED AND DOWNLOADED AND THE EXPANSION PACK DOWNLOADED USING THE DIGITAL KEY AS A "PROMO CODE", ALL IN THE SAME ONLINE TRANSACTION AT STORE.ORIGIN.COM IN ORDER TO UTILIZE EXPANSION PACK DIGITAL KEY. Web sites and expansion pack may be in languages other than the native language of your country of residence. You must be 16+ or the age of majority in your country, whichever is older. Offer expires December 31, 2011 and expansion pack must be downloaded by January 31, 2012. Limit one per person. Offer may not be exchanged, sold or redeemed for cash or other goods or services. Supplies limited; offer is subject to availability. Geographical restrictions apply. Void in any country where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law. For more information, click here."

Um.. expansion pack? Enlighten me as I thought I read "Battlefield 3" free and not "Battlefield expansion pack" free.

Let me put it differently.

BF3 on Ultra stutters because my slow HDD cannot keep up with all the high-def textures it needs to load

DiRT 3 runs butter-smooth on my machine, indicating that there shouldn't be a HDD problem with the game, because if there was, my slow HDD wouldn't be able to keep up with it either.

IOW, he's doing it wrong. I don't know how, but he is.

I think it's like this--2 situations:

(1) Dirt 3 should have no issues with hard drive speed (likely because all textures are loaded when the map loads). He plays dirt3 fine with all settings cranked, no stuttering/glitching, even with a slow HDD.

(2) BF3 is the opposite situation--probably needing to pull textures from the HDD frequently in game, so due to the slow HDD it stutters despite his having a perfectly capable graphics card and CPU.

edit--ninja'd

Methinks he missed the option to turn on/off youtube recordings.
