Indigo Xtreme... Thought those with blocks might be interested

Hey guys/gals.

I posted a review of Indigo Xtreme with the silver arrow air cooler a while back. Here is the link:

http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...ow-review.html

Reason I am posting this here is that I couldn't get it to work well with the double tower design and clamp type of the silver arrow.

I think this would be an amazing Tim used with a CPU block. What are your thoughts?

Also I have an unused application available if one of you OCNers with an 1156/1155 chip that is water cooled want to pick up where I left off.

I couldn't get it to work with my water block at all. I turned off my pump and let it warm up really hot like they said to, but still no flow.

That's interesting. I would have thought that based on waterblock design it wouldn't suffer from the same issue that large heatsinks have with passive cooling.

I just installed some the last time I rebuilt my loop with my CPU waterblock and no issues at all with the given directions and saw a nice temp drop of 3-5C! Definitely worth it.

Yeah I've had no problems with waterblocks, I've even had "over" flow where it got so hot it leaked out the sides.

If you're not melting it, then maybe turn your overclock/volts up a bit or wrap an insulator around the heatsink. Usually I'm bouncing 95-100 when I'm reflowing indigo. Sometimes you don't see the temp dip on waterblocks because reflow happens so quickly.

The biggest pain can often just be rotating a tower case onto it's side.

Like I said earlier if one of you OCNers want to give IX a try and are willing to post your results for the benefit of the OCN community i'd be happy to send you my unused application. Send me PM if interested.

I used it about 5 times already and I got it to work every time with no issues and every time I used it it reflowed before windows even loaded and I didn't have to do anything

I experienced the same thing when I reflowed, the dip was very quick and I wasn't sure if it had melted.

How do you feel it performs? Was it worth the energy over a traditional paste?
I'm not sure the performance is worth the price and you only get 2 applications at that. But its so different from using traditional paste I wanted to try it. Now that I've done it once and gotten over the hesitation of turning my pumps off and letting those cpu temps go to 90+, I plan to continue using it. No more messy thermal grease
