Hehe there must be a lot of truth to that. I'll only be suckered in by performance, not marketing!

Will you be able to tell the difference? Possibly in some games where it gets really intensive and the 570 slows down to below 30fps while the 580 stays above. Is it worth the extra money? It's all relative I guess. How long are you planning on keeping the card, etc. I hold my cards for 3 years minimum, and for me, the difference between a 570 and 580 was only $90 USD, plus I got the arctic vga cooler included with the card at that price. So in that situation, yes, its worth it. But 140 pounds extra for a 580 vs 570? That wouldn't be worth it to me no.
What I see there is what I've been thinking about - 8 FPS difference on average. Decent but not sure it's worth £142 extra (about $228). An overclocked 570 should match this, surely!?
Then again, where does an overclocked 580 go?
I think on average I keep a graphics card for about two years before I look to upgrade.

Yeah those were my thoughts when I bought the 570, especially with overclocking involved.
I think I might take a pass on the 580. The price difference is a piss-take when MSI Afterburner should allow me to close the gap for free.
