Trade my GTX580 Lightning for 6970?

Thinking of trading my GTX580 Lightning for a 6970 + waterblock of my choice. For my resolution (2560x1440), would this be wise for the extra VRAM and noise difference? I mainly play SC2 and BF3.

No, it wouldn't be worth it. The 580 is still significantly (OK I wouldn't significantly, but it is the better GPU) more powerful in many applications and unless you're going crossfire it wouldn't make any sense to get a 6970 for extra v-ram if you aren't actually doing anything to use it such as crossfire/3-D

Well for future plans I would like to max out SC2 and BF3 with some AA. It just seems like it might be a better idea to go 6970 then 580 if I end up going SLI/Xfire.

Well they both scale equally in most games some better than others. Why not just keep the 580 and get another when it's cheaper? Unless it's cheaper for you in the long run then by all means grab that 6970.

Having 2 580 on my 750 watt PSU would be really cutting it close to it's max. I can upgrade my PSU to 850 but I can't go any further. I just bought a UPS and can't really afford a 900+ watt UPS.

2x6970's is going to be a fair bit cheaper than 2x580's.

The 580 is a slightly quicker card in most games but its pretty marginal. If bf3 is what you are going to be playing, you really cant go past the scaling of the 6970's. its brilliant, especially in high resolutions!

Well most reviews tell a different story.

Yeah, one of the reasons why I would go for the 6970 is because it's much cheaper.

I noticed that and I might go for the AX850.

To be honest, I would just be afraid all my stuff on a 750. Those reviews kinda make it seem like a 550-650 PSU is fine for SLI/Xfire.
