No it didn't. he had a huge glob of plastic on it, and he had to go back and clean each hole.

Although I don't think those holes do anything. They are by the base of the heatsink and not the fan area....

This.

And that's exactly what i was thinking... a hole near the heat pipe isn't going to do anything at all.

Why isn't anyone reporting that guy? Seriously. That whole "GPU only works on the laptop screen" part made me want to punch him in the face.

You guys baby your MOtheboards to much. He knows what he is doing.

My Co worker accidentally left a light show thing in the rain and it still works.

I've gotten Thermal paste on CPU pins, and the motherboard.

Just clean it off with alcohol.

YOu can damn near snap a motherboard in half trying to take off a Power jack.....AND IT STILL WORKS.

Watch his other video...he probably knows more than yall.

He used a soldering iron to make holes in plastic.

That speaks for itself.

What a messy job. a Dremel would've worked fine. And yes, the pressing on the GPU core was unnecessary and not too healthy for it. Even worse that he didn't clear off any contamination before applying TIM.

I really don't like to be harsh on people like this, though. The way i see it is this is a misinformed individual who takes an interest in something i do - if anything, i feel sorry for them and an urge to guide them in the right direction.

People like this who make youtube videos do sometimes get alot of heat for it and it can (sometimes) drive them away from the hobby altogether. This would also explain the disabling of comments on his video...he's clearly troubled by it.
