This thread shows me how oblivious and/or young the overclock.net community has become.

AMD would even be able to price these low enough to beat out a custom desktop if they wished.
Exactly, most people in the world just want an easy all in one solution these days, and PC's have always been too complex for the "everyday man" to get into. So a gaming system that beats a console and is internet/tv ready would be PERFECT!!

The problem with that is that it would be done by a company - companies ONLY care about sales figures and profit margins .
So their Accounts and Marketing idiots would get involved and by the time it went into production would be castrated and you would have an Xbox 360 + just enough improvement to get it to sell in numbers .
Not good ! but that unfortunately is the reality of modern marketing !

And you think M$$$$$ management will allow that to happen ?
I dont think its the not knowing how to build pc part that stops console gamers from going pc. Im pretty sure its the price tag.

it used to be the price tag but look at the price off cheap pc now and compare the price off xbox or ps3

I thought AMD could change the way gaming computers are... Not only they make great GPU's, they also have the ability to create good cheap gaming chips. So WHY not put all this together to create the first ever company to fully commercialize & produce a PC GAMING COMPUTER??
A all in one gaming pc, right from the BOX, just like a console, plug in and go!! Thats what most gamers want. They don't like all the computer parts they have to source, then get made up, they want an all in one easy solution...
With making a complete final gaming pc, they could undercut all the competitors, and create a new niche market for themselves....
Speak for yourself.
But are you insisting that every part be AMD branded? Something like that could take a while, and really all they have above intel is the fact that they make GPU's. Some technically this option would be open to both parties, no?

AMD does not sell CPU directly to consumers. AMD does not produce motherboards, power supplies, RAM, HDD, SSD, ODD, and cases. Nor do they have the logistic capability, supply chains, distribution contacts, or customer/tech support for it.

It's like asking a carpenter to build an entire house just because he can do the framing.

Besides, the margins on prebuilt PCs are razor thin already.
Once again...
