Is Corsair XMS DDR3-1600 considered good ram?

Thread Starter
I just bought these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145324

I set the speed to 1600, voltage to 1.65 and timing to 9 9 9 24. Well, It wouldn't even boot. I even had to do a CMOS clear to get it to boot again. With everything on "auto" they work fine.

I had 2x2gb of GSkill ram and that always ran at 1600, @ 7 8 7 24, with absolutely no problems all. Only reason I went with the Corsairs is that I wanted 8gb and they were on sale.

Should I continue messing around with these, trying to get them to work like I want them too? Are the Corsairs good overclockers? Or should I return them and move to something else?

What would you have picked from here?

Corsair makes excellent ram. And I personally love the XMS series never had issues with the kit I had.

I had XMS3 1333 RAM and it was great. I just upgraded to GSkill because it is supposed to OC better than most... I dunno yet though.

Well, that makes me feel better because I just sort of blindly picked it out. I'll continue trying to fiddle with it. It could be my el-cheapo motherboard too. I'm going to get a am3+ board on Black Friday. This one is bottlenecking my new ssd.

The RAM you chose is pretty good. I once had a problem with my corsair memory which a bios update sorted.

I have the same XMS kit only i have the 1.5v version...been running perfectly for 6 months. The difference in the 1.5v vs the 1.65v is in the part number...1.5v will have a B instead of an A to the left of 1600.
