My customized Corsair 600t SE, dual 240mm rad water cooled setup!

Thread Starter
This is my first custom CPU wc loop setup in the last 8yrs or so. I have done phase change and chiller setups back when I was a teenager, but haven't had a nice desktop in ages so I decided to do another custom water cooler setup for my new computer. First off,

Hardware specs:

Case: Corsair 600t SE (white), using mesh side panel
CPU: Intel 2500k (OC'd of course!)
Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V Pro
Ram: 8gb Corsair Dominator
SSD/HDD: Corsair Force 3 90gb SSD + WD Caviar Black 750gb HDD
Graphics Card: MSI Radeon HD 6970 4gb, reference model, water cooled (very modded Corsair H50 cooler with RS240 radiator and external pump - adding a second 6970 or 6990 around xmas time)
Disc drive
Monitor: 65" Mitsubishi 65738 1080P DLP 1080p HDTV
Audio: Yamaha RX-V467 receiver, Polk speakers - TSi 400 mains, CS20 center channel, and OWM3 surrounds.

Water cooling kit setup:

Starting point: Rasa750 RS240 kit - 240mm standard radiator, dual 5.25" bay res/pump, black Rasa CPU block, with 1/2" tubing.
Radiator upgrade: Added RX240 radiator in addition to he RS240 radiator, had to make a small but extensive modification to the case.
Fans: Push/pull gentle typhoon setup on each radiator (8 fans total), shrouds on the RX240 intake fans. Total ~15 low dBA fans and a stand alone fan controller along with the built in fan controller.
Additional reservoir: Swiftech Micro Rev. 2 reservoir (for easier fill and route tubing a bit better)

Case mods:
1. Case fan grilles cut out, replaced with high flow round style grilles.
2. One 3.5" drive cage removed and one relocated to behind power supply.
3. Lower 5.25" drive bay cut, hammered, and welded along with protruding tabs removed and/or flattened for clearance.
4. 1"+ relief cut in front section of the floor under 5.25" drive bays, boxed in with 22ga steel welded in, to clear RX240 radiator standing up in the front of the case (AWESOME radiator and location is perfect!).
5. Small notch in underside of front plastic cover - Less than half the depth and the same width as the RX240 radiator (cannot be seen!).

I had the idea to mount the RX240 up front because I had seen people run 200mm radiators in the front 200mm stock fan location, but I really don't like 200mm fans, and don't believe most on the market mix well with water cooling radiator flow requirements. Plus, I like the idea of two 240mm radiators for symmetry and whatnot, the RS240 is mounted up top in the stock 240mm radiator location. If I could have fit a 360mm rad I would have just ran one of those and a 120mm radiator in the back..but you can't without only running two fan spaces if mounted in the top of the case, you lose a drive bay, and usually have to chop up a very visible section on the top of the case. I'm hoping to get some good temps and hit a pretty decent overclock on my 2500k and by using my fan controller(s) set everything up to be VERY quiet. This PC is going in an equipment closet so cooling when overclocked is very, very important especially when playing games.

In addition to the main loop on this box, I also setup a modded Corsair H50 setup with an RS240 radiator for my Radeon 6970 video card! I got the idea from somebody online who did an Nvidia card - but have not seen an AMD card done at all. Figured I'd give it a shot! I included one pic of the card without the cover on, but checkout the little mini build thread about it here: http://www.overclock.net/water-cooling/1159442-my-modified-corsair-h50-amd-hd.html

Stock - plenty of space, some people say its too small to water cool properly... lies! tongue.gif

Size panel fans installed instead of window - now I have a 240mm radiator across the bottom section for my video card cooler with two additional pull fans.

Better lapping than other Rasa 750's I've seen; pleasant surprise!

Starting with the first cuts for the front mounted radiator pocket that is setup to sit between the two long "feet" of the case.

Holes cut in front grille for fans/shrouds and bottom to fit the oversized RX240 radiator.

RX240 radiator mocked up in lower front of case where 3.5" drive cages are located stock; I'm using one cage instead of two now and it is mounted just to the left of the radiator in this picture, before the power supply on the far, far left.

301353_866439291824_27304619_39625679_1905149825_n.jpg
Front fan grille cut out for radiator - fans will be shrouded and side wholes are being covered with aluminum HVAC tape (removable and less work than welding patches on such large areas).

319612_866439725954_27304619_39625681_1287488173_n.jpg
PSU internal grille removed - there is still a filter panel in the case plastics that goes right outside that so air will be cleaned before entering the case, just will flow in much better.

300454_866439062284_27304619_39625677_147467572_n.jpg
Rough cut opening of top grilles for RS240 radiator - went back over everything and cleaned up all the sharps and sanded stuff down.

294064_866439955494_27304619_39625683_146480411_n.jpg
Rear fan grille cut out for MUCH better flow (this one in particular flows like crap with the grille in place!!!). Adding high flow round bar grille when installing fans.

308265_866660049424_27304619_39628653_1247225327_n.jpg
Rough cut opening with radiator set in place, not centered up of course, and shrouds fit around to increase pressure across the fins.

All edges sanded down, everything cleaned, and two coats of satin black paint, and one more coat to go.

Another shot after paint.

MSI 4gb reference Radeon HD 6970 video card with customized and modified Corsair H50 liquid cooler.

---

That is all for now!!! I am finishing up tomorrow by reinstalling the plastics, leak testing, and finally putting all of the components back in and OC'ing for a bit before playing some BF3 applaud.gif More photos to come.

I really appreciate the kind words!!! I love doing this stuff and haven't really shared anything in a long time. I wish I still had pictures of the two water chillers I made (one out of an AC unit one out of a mini-fridge) and phase change unit I made years ago...now THOSE were off the hook - but very ghetto-rigged looking! biggrin.gif

Bit of an update... I ordered a few little parts since I changed the component layout when originally ordering stuff. What I am changing/adding isn't too complicated different or complicated, but should greatly help my delta temps.

First of all, I am taking out the upper radiator and cutting out the corners which have mounting holes in; this way I can fit the radiator up higher with the full thickness 120mm or run awesome SUPER slim, just 12mm thick, Scythe fans above the rad. The REAL reason I am really doing this is because I am adding a SECOND RX240 in the upper location...AND STILL KEEP the lower/front location RX240 drunken.gif I just couldn't bring myself to run a thin 240mm rad and a thick 240mm rad on the same loop, just seemed stupid to me aesthetically not to mention less than maximally efficient. Just as a reminder, this loop is ONLY for the CPU, and will stay that way until I run a Trifire setup (with how much I'm getting into this setup, I'm not gonna change it for a while once it's together). The RS240 I had is now being used in my modified Corsair H50 cooling loop - I can probably run two cards on the same rad and be fine (with some better blocks). wink.gif

Next I am installing a Swiftech MCRes Micro Rev. 2 reservoir to my CPU loop to make it easier to refill since my dual bay res will be covered by a bluray drive. This also allows me to make a vertical "step down" while changing the direction of water flow horizontally when going from the top half to the bottom half of the case (from top upper rad to lower rad). I could also run a T off the top fill port and run it to the stock case lock hole and install a fill port there - but I'm not quite decided if I want to do that or not.

While I was ordering stuff I got some 1/2" ID 5/8" OD non-branded silicone tubing and some 1/2" ID 3/4" OD PrimoFlex Pro LRT by PrimoChill, to compare the two - I've always used Tygon in the past but figured it was worth a shot to give these a try instead. Grabbed a 2x 140mm shroud for the front of my case, and finally two 140mm fans (I have some crappy 140's I was going to use but figured what the heck, right? lol).

Gonna take a BUNCH of pictures tomorrow since it will be going together.

Again, any questions or comments feel free to post up!

Been super, super, SUPER busy the last few weeks and haven't had much free time to tinker with my toys. wink.gif Anyway, here is the little bit of progress I made, it is leak testing right now, I'm excited! To run BOTH RX240's as primary CPU rads I'm going to have to cut out more on top to offset the thickness of the bigger radiator (it interferes with mobo otherwise!). So for right now I am running an RS240 and an RX240 as I had originally planned - then adding a Swiftech micro reservoir and to make routing less of a pain with the bigger radiator.

450
Primochill tubing is giong to be used, this is all setup and ready to go leak testing (minus clamps and water lol).

700
Just a shot with cheap silicone tubing I used for mock up, but may end up using on another build someday soon - it was cheap and is super pliable

Front of the case mounts just flush with the dropped down radiator support section I fabricated...perfect!!!! biggrin.gif

With 30mm thick fans installed the stock cover fits 100% and there is more room to go for when I switch to the RX series radiator and 12mm thick fans.
