BF3 hitting 26 FPS on MEDIUM with a 6970. What's happening??

(Posted this in the AMD forum but I'm not sure where's more appropriate... so I'll try here as well.)

I was running a Radeon 4870 and the game was pretty much unplayable... so I just upgraded to a 6970.

Played the single player for a while and it runs very smooth on high settings... switched to MP and I'm getting 26 - 40 FPS on maps like Caspian border when looking at the majority of the map on MEDIUM settings. wths's going on here? I have the newest drivers.

Here are my specs:

Windows 7 64-Bit
Sapphire Radeon 6970
Intel Core 2Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.8 GHz
4069 MB RAM (DDR2)
Motherboard: ASUSTeK P5N-E SLI w/ nVidia nForce 650 SLI chip

What's going on here?! I'm really bummed.

Might be your CPU bottle necking the GPU.

2.8GHz might be too slow. OC that thing!

Same thing happening with my friend and his X4. Only thing is he doesn't want to OC yet.

Ram might be slowing you down, I've read bf3 eats memory. I agree with cpu bottlenecking too.

What resolution do you play at?

I'll echo what the others above me said. It's most likely your CPU bottlenecking the GPU, especially if you run anything less than 1080p for your resolution.

Are you running the latest drivers? Did you do a fresh driver install when you switched cards?

Low to ultra have very little difference in fps. Play around with AA to get better fps, also turning motion blur off will also give you more fps.
