Asus P8Z68V-LE and i 2500k OC issue. Need Help

Hey there folks.

I have a system that I am very happy with. However i could not have any OCing success as I am also new to the topic.

I tried Ocing automatically and manually but no luck.

With OC Tuner in the BIOS or the Auto Tuning in the Asus Utility program the OC happens but the system restarts itself after some gaming.

I also know that my motherboard might have limited funcionality compared to the other motherboards...

Here are my settings in The BIOS

AI OVERCLOCK TUNER : Manual

BCLK/PCIE FREQUENCY : 103.0

TURBO RATIO : By all cores

BY ALL CORES: 42

INTERNAL PLL OVERVOLTAGE : Auto

MEMORY FREQUENCY : DDR3-1648 mhz

EPU POWER SAVING MODE : Disabled

CPU VOLTAGE : 1.235V - AUTO

DRAM VOLTAGE : 1.650V - 1.650V

VCCIO VOLTAGE : 1.050V - AUTO

PCH VOLTAGE : 1.050V - AUTO

LOAD LINE CALIBRATION : AUTO

CPU SPREAD SPECTRUM :
AUTO

This is what Asus does automatically OCing my CPU,

i just switched the last 2 options ( Load Line Calibration and CPU Spread Spectrum) to ENABLED from Auto and will do testing as it is.

If the restarts occur again, what should i do? What should i change? Increase or Decrease.

Thank you very much.

I also have a ZALMAN CNPS11X cooling system and heats are never a problem so far.

Check here easy OC for your CPU.
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1578110

Just run the multiplier up. IE 4.5GHZ is 45X. You will need to add voltage to make it stable. Dont go over 1.4.

Take your BLCK back to 100.

Dont use the Auto Tune feature it is garbage. Runs way to much Voltage for the clocks it gives you.

Always keep your eye on the temps.

I would first set the BCLK back to 100. Then it should be stable for that vcore.

Thanks for the link

I do not have Phase Control and Duty Control in my setup...

Would this be an issue?

Well you will have more V droop so you might not be able to reach as high of overclocks as some others. But as long as you arent running killer V you will be fine.

Mobo will be fine as long as you keep the V reasonable.

Great

First attempt I had the following Error

OVERCLOCKING HAS FAILED

Now onto my second attemp

with multiplier 45*100

Voltage around 1.345

I did not get the OC failed message yet but i will do some gaming and see if i have a restart

While typing this on my laptop i just had a BSOD and a reset

Damn frown.gif

EDIT : I truly believe I am inches close to destroying my PC. LOL. Now windows is repairing some files because it could not start... Darn it.

BSOD wont hurt anything just means the rig is unstable.

What Clock speed are you shooting for?

You will want to use Prime 95 for stress-testing stability.

If you are uncomfortable overclocking read some guides here on OCN before you dive in. smile.gif

I am fine with anything between 4.0 and 4.5

No need for higher yet.

I was really counting on the Auto Overclocking feature but it failed me badly frown.gif
