[TE] 56% of American Gamers Don't Buy Games - Page 4

Well you know that everyone has disposable income to spend on a new $60 every other day so I can't imagine why people would try to share games... disgusting really, think about how many of the gaming industries children will have to go to Collage and not University because people try to save some cash.

They are going to start system locking games on consoles soon you watch, online passes are in place to ease people into the idea of choosing new over pre-owned before being forced to buy new like the PC community.

Well the fact that people are sharing games is pretty much the reason why companies are starting to crack down on used games purchases. Its like sharing a movie. Sure at any one given time only 1 person has the disc, but 10 people get to enjoy the content on that disc for the entry fee of 1 person. Online games is where it gets a bit complex cause of being linked to accounts and stuff.

This holds especially true for single player games on consoles.

That's why the used games market hurts the gaming industry. Its good for us,gamestop, bestbuy, and etc, but bad for them. 1 person buys it brand new has all the fun and the publisher gets a cut and the retail gets a small cut, sells it back, another person buys it used enjoys it and now the retailer gets all of the money while publisher gets none, repeat until no one buys that game anymore.

Sharing games and buying used games does hurt the industry. But how badly is left to someone to crunch the numbers and report back.

I haven't bought an new game in years. Either a used disc bought on OCN or Ebay, or a Steam Summer Sale type discount for a 1-2 year old game for 50%-75% off...that's the way to go, my friends. Especially with the way they do DLC these days; wait 12-18 months and you can probably get a "Game of the Year Edition" with all of the DLC for half-off of the original retail price.

If you're an addict that thinks they must have a new game on day one to stay cool...get help. The game is exactly the same a year later. Save yourself some serious money and learn to delay gratification.

I never buy games anymore at $60. I always either just wait or borrow it from a friend.

i actually don't think 60$ for a game is that bad. The last time me and the wife went out the movies we spent, 40$ for 2 hours of entertainment. A night out to dinner is easily 60$, take the family to the amusement park for a day well over 300$, 25$ for a 2 hour blue ray, for those of you that drink beer 15$ for a 12 pack of beer, etc. 60$ for a good game could get you an easy 20 hours of fun minimum and if it's an online game it could be played for years. If you look at it as how long you get to enjoy the game, compared to other ways you spend money to entertain yourself, then 60$ is a great deal.

In all honesty, I can't really thnk of a cheaper form of entertainment then gaming, and that's even if you bought every game brand new. Even if your just talking free things you can go and do, think about how much the gas cost to get you there. 60$ for a game isn't that bad.

What do they expect when they charge $60 a game plus >$10 for each DLC?
If you look at a common game like Black Ops, you would have to pay $120 just to have the game and map packs.

40 dollars on movies for 2 people? wow it only costs me 10 for 1 adult at night. Then again I don't get soda and popcorn and all that junk cause it's not all that great to begin with. Maybe something to drink which is like 3-4 dollars but thats about it.

Dinner is 60 for 2 people? Jeez that must be dessert, meal, and appetizer and must be some expensive drinks.
