[TE] 56% of American Gamers Don't Buy Games - Page 5

if a game is something i really want to play, then i'll pick it up on the opening day.......i'm very story/sp oriented.......if i see that the game has a good plot/story, i have to get it......although rage was a huge disappointment, it had a lot of potential......i bought it on od, but after finishing it in less than 12h i was like whaaaaat? that's it?......mw2 had a good story and i liked it, so a preordered mw3 cause i wanna see what happens.....i really enjoyed batman aa, so i preordered ac too......huge fan of assassin's creed, so revelations needed to be in my collection.......played la noire on ps3 and like it, but refused to buy it for it......now that's it's comming to pc, here is my chance......and don't even get me started on skyrim wheee.gif.........aaa titles come rarely, and as rage proved it, they're not always good......if one has a limited budget for games, be selective......also, console games are easier to share.......just pop it in and play, no activation/installation required, less of a hassle in general......the ony new games for consoles i bough since the x360/ps3 era were all of the halo titles, and gt5 and metal gear.......all others were used

Maybe if they went with a little more fair price, the jump from $50 to $60 was a mistake IMO. Game makers are in a great position in that the per disk cost for a game is almost nothing so selling more units at a lesser price is going to be exactly the same as selling less units at an increased price.

When I was a kid I never bought games because I couldn't afford them. So my friends and I used to exchange games whenever we were done with them. Ahhh the good old NES days. Not everybody can afford a $60 game so naturally friends will exchange games amongst themselves.

Dinner is 60 for 2 people? Jeez that must be dessert, meal, and appetizer and must be some expensive drinks.

I can't believe I'm responding to this pointlessness, but please just assume that movie ticket costs vary around the world, and that not everyone is a student or alone or willing to stave off whining girlfriends/wives/children over the course of 2 hours to save a few bucks... Same goes with dinner, if I cite an example of spending 300 does that make 60 cheap? He made perfectly valid points as long as you just consider what he is saying and dont nitpick his examples....

Relax bro it's not that serious. I was pointing out what it costs me. I live in NJ one of the highest taxed states in the US and I'm assuming he lives in the US due to the fact that all of his denominations are in US dollars and the fact that he did no post his location.

A regular movie ticket for a night show costs 10 dollars. I also said that I do not buy snacks and what not therefore unless he is going to 3D movies and is snacking, there are some unnecessary costs associated with it. And yes I'm a student with a job and thank you for reminding me that I get a student discount because ever sense I left high school I forgot about my student discount at the movies.

And restaurants you have places like chili's that offer deals such as 2 meals with half an appetizer for 20 dollars. So there is a lot of fat that can be trimmed. You can still have dinner and a movie for 40 dollars with the alternative I offered. I can only go by what is written.

Now if you don't like what I said then don't respond simple as that.

For a night out for dinner for 2 is easily 60$ and I don't drink. Besides fast food, I have no idea where you would take a date or your wife and it not be around 60 US$ inclucing a decent tip. 60$ is just at a decent chain, not a fancy one off place that will easily be well over 100$. As far as the movies go, I have never in my life went to a movie by myself, and I have never made my date pay for her ticket, so, if you go to the movies with a date, you surely wouldn't tell her no if she asks for popcorn 5$ and a drink5$, 2 tickets 20$-25$ if it's 3D. So there your at 30-35$ without the cost of gas in the mix.

60$ for all the enjoyment and time consumed that a game delivers isn't near as bad as people make it out to be. It's the best dollar for dollar deal you can spend on entertainment , except for maybe really good music.

I don't feel right spending more than $20 on a game. If I want a new game, I'll wait 2 months or so until I can get it cheap on eBay. For example, BC2. When it first came out: $60. 2 months later in Target: $30. I ended up snagging it for $19 on eBay.

When it comes to buying Wii games for my family, those things only take 1 month to go down to $20.

Strange. For me $60 can get two meals at an above average place (such as a notch above Olive Garden) and a glass of wine each. Then again, I guess it depends what you eat. I rarely ever get super expensive meals like Lobster or Steak.

I go to the dollar theater. Same principle as buying used video games. Wait a few months for it to be cheap. Of course, I haven't gone to a movie in over 2 years. Not really a movie person.

Your kidding right? I wait for a game to be out a couple weeks and there is always someone selling a game for cash that they played through and they are done with it. They are always top quality. I got got Gears of War 3 for $40 cash.

All the industries want to make money off of that type of deal. I am also surpised that there aren't more renters out there. Game Fly is also really cool when you play alot of games.

In 1990, I was paying $90 for Sega Genesis games. Tommy Lasorda baseball comes to mind as one.

For what we get today, $60 is dirt cheap.

They didn't sell 500 Millions worth of copies by then though.

That's very disappointing. I make it a point to buy the games that have a developer and publisher that I like (i.e. Naughty Dog with Uncharted). Activision and EA on the other hand...
