OCZ SSD Wont Boot! - Page 2

I see you're running Intel in your Sig Rig, I'm assuming that's where you have your SSD installed. My HP laptop had issues with my SSD until I installed the Intel SATA drivers during install.

All you have to do is download the SATA drivers for your motherboard, they will most likely be called the "floppy" drivers. Copy them to a USB drive, make sure they're unzipped and just in a folder on the root of the drive. Plug your USB drive in and your Windows Disc.

When you get the the Hard drive selection screen of the install process, there should be a spot where you can click load drivers. Point it to your flash drive, it will load up the drivers then continue on normally with the install.

That's the process I took with Windows 7, Windows Vista shouldn't be all that different, but I've never installed Vista...

If I got any of this wrong, feel free to correct me anyone.

Don't give up on SSD's yet. I dreaded my first Windows re-install, but I made the best of it.

Start fresh with a clean system, install only what you need on the SSD, install everything else on a HDD along with all your documents and other stuff.

Then if you lose your SSD or have to re-install Windows ever again, you won;t lose all your files, won't have to back anything up.

I dont have any data on the SSD. My problem is I have over 100 applications that I use on a daily basis to manage our Network. Its a freaking pain in the ass to and reconfigure everything. I shouldnt have to reinstall windows if the drive is working this is ridiculous. I am buying another one of these stupid things and putting it in a RAID 1.

I wouldn't recommend buying another OCZ drive. OCZ and sandforce in general have had major issues with reliability and random BSOD's.

Supposedly the latest firmware update has resolved much of these issues, so you can give that a try.

In general though, really no reason you should have any sandforce drive in a mission critical PC. Intel, Samsung or Marvel only.

It seems to just be an issue with Intel chipsets. Without the Intel SATA drivers installed during the Windows Install, I couldn't get full performance out of my SSD. AMD on the other hand don't need to be installed during the install, they can be installed later by Windows using Windows Update. I'm not sure why the Intels are so picky.

Hopefully the RAID works for you with no problems

I can confirm the latest firmware fixes the BSOD's, Chrome no longer crashes Windows on my when I have it installed on my SSD.

I updated the firmware to the latest version using the OCZ updater tool while attaching the drive to another machine. I still cant boot off of it.

I should just stick with raptors never had problems with those for 5 years. This OCZ drive was running fine for 2 months.
