Most if not all ISPs advertise speeds in Mb not MB. Bits vs Bytes. lol. I have a 20Mb connection that lands me about 2.1MB a second.
+1

30/5 Mb line yields me about 6 MB(max) / 400 KB

So the 5Mb/s is a bunch of lies? I have never downloaded anything faster than 600Kb/s for the last 10 years I have been a customer with them.

I wish there was other ISPs here because this is a load of crap. They have no incentive to ever increase their internet speed because they know they are the only ones that will ever give internet service in this town of 10K people.

They sit there in their mansion overlooking the riverside while they rip us all off with crap internet and crap selection of TV channels and no HD for full blown price. I really hope some new company comes in town and puts them out of business so they have to resort to living in a mobile home and have to work for once in their life. Rant\\

Well thanks for the replies guys. Wont be doing business with there greedy people ever again once I get a job lined up in a different area.

As someone else just mentioned, they advertise 5mb/s not MB/s. so 5mb/s is around 600kb/s yeah.

my BB is 50mb, and I get like 5MB/s download, so yours is correct!

5mb/s = ~600KB/s, so where is the lie?

Are you serious?

On your speedtest, you got 5 MEGABITS per second, which is what you have been saying you pay for. Mb = megabits, not megabytes.

On your steam download screenshot, you got 600 KILOBYTES per second (KB/s), NOT 600 Kb/s like you've been saying.

5 MEGABITS is equal to 640 KILOBYTES.

You are getting the speeds you are paying for.

Hmm ok. But for the price they charge us for this download speed is still a huge rip off. I bet for the same exact price I could get at least 20Mb/s in any other city in the USA.
