ABS 595 H80 Questions and Comments

Hey,
So I am looking for some advice on my build. Simply put.

Let's start with specs:

(Note these are off the top of my head, will verify once I return home)

ABS 595 Case
AMD 1090t BE OC @ 3.87 242x16 with 1.478v
Cooler Master V8 Heatsink (24/7 High)
MSI 890FXA-GD70 1.C BIOS
Corsair XMS3 6GB @ 1600 OC with 1.65v

XFX 6870 BE OC 970x1225 Stock Voltages (For Now) Crossfire Aftermarket Accellero Twin Turbo Pro on Both

Cougar CMX 1000 PSU

1 TB @ 7200 RPM
1 500GB @ 5400 (Back-Up)

Here's the issue.

I want cooler temps XD. I have just ordered a H80 to install in my case, however I am torn in the classical dichotomy of the intake or exhaust battle.

The ABS Case has an intake filter that covers the three 120mm fans on the front side of the case, and I am considering mounting the H80 there as an intake, however I am worried about the hot air traveling towards my ram.

In this case there is a direct path, and a short one, between this top 120mm and the rear exhaust 120mm. Also the PSU is top mounted and has a fan that pulls case air out.

I am worried about exhausting with the H80 due to crossfire setup that sits underneath it, but am concerned that the extra heat from the intake will heat my RAM, and PSU, what do you guys think?

Trying to keep that AMD under the 55 sweet spot, as my 4.0 and 4.2 OC are not stable, due to (as I believe) some heat issues.

Temps right now:
Ambient 15C (College Student XD)
Idle 19-22C
Load 65-5C

I have some new 1600 Patriot RAM on the way, 4x2 (2) Dual-Channel on the way with some wicked heatsinks also.

From the pictures on newegg it looks like your PSU is in a separate compartment? The hot air from the h80 should mostly go straight from the radiator to the rear exhaust. It will pass over your ram but I personally have never worried about ram temps, mostly because I don't OC my ram, is your memory heavily overclocked?

I got significantly better temperatures moving my H60 to intake cool air from the front:

http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...60-issues.html

and I know a number of other members on this board have had a similar experience. Specifically, I was getting higher temps gaming than I was stress testing my CPU because the hot air from my graphics card was going into my radiator. If you aren't overclocking your ram hard I would go for it. If your really worried you could grab a ram cooler to offset the difference.

EDIT: Also looks like your gpus exhaust hot air into the case like mine do. I would highly recommend going with the front mount.

Thanks for the response!

The PSU compartment has a slotted bottom and my PSU fan pulls air though the slots through the PSU. I guess this is my only concern now.

My ram isn't super OC'd and I don't plan on pushing it due to the fact that I may need the headroom for my CPU OC.

In that case, if it was me, I'd go for the front mount. You should get significantly better performance out of your H80. Your PSU is way overpowered for your setup so I would assume it's not working that hard and thus the extra heat shouldn't be a huge problem, but I'm no expert :-). Also it's got a Ultra-quiet temperature-controlled Hydro-Dynamic bearing 140mm fan lol.

I wouldn't worry about the ram getting hot as much as I would the radiator and cpu getting hot. I am getting ready to do something similar with an H50. I am going to put it in the 5.25 drive bays for a cool air intake. I would however make sure the fans in the back are blowing out the hot air from inside the case.
