AMD Phenom II X4 965 FSB OC/Ram tweaking? - Page 2

well I tried pushing for 4.1 by raising my fsb by 4, BSOD after about a hour of prim95, took it back down to 212 and raised my multiplier and see if that would work and Bsod again after about 30 minutes, not really sure what else I can do other the raising my voltage on my cpu or loosening my ram maybe.

Here is a picture of my bios if this is any help:

Thought id try going through my FSB completely with the stock multiplier of 17, to hit 4.0, changed ram timings from 5 5 5 15 to 6 6 6 18, set ram voltage to 2.0 still kept my vcore at 1.4v and lowered my ram multiplier from 4x to 3x. (wasn't exactly sure if that was needed) Turned on prim95 for the night, and came back to core 4 failing at 10 hours of stressing while the other 3 continued to 12 hours. I also did 2 different ram benchmarks with maxxmem compairing 5-6-6-16 @ 200 fsb to 6-6-6-18 @ 240 FSB and I amazed at the difference between the two.

If that failed (that means you need more voltage) you are in safe till 1.55v (dont worry).

Should I worry about my HT link going past a certain # like 2500+?

Well I tried pushing for 4.5 with just the multiplier with a increased Vcore to 1.550v and with just the FSB and a mix of both but had no luck getting remotely unstable. However I found going with just the multiplier I wasn't able to boot into windows, but with FSB I was and was fine till I turned on Prime95.

I think I might just stay at 4.0 at 1.4vcore with the FSB at 212, since that's the lowest vcore I can get and everything past 4.1 seems to require about 1.55v sadly which I'm not sure if I feel safe running at with my mobo and I don't think my H100 can keep it below 55c stressing with prime.

Anyone have experience with this chip and if so how did you overcome 4.0+?

UPDATE:

Well I tried to push for 4.5 but that was a no go no matter what I did, even went past 1.55V and tons of combinations of FSB and mult but no luck. Since I didn't make it to 4.5 I thought I should go for the 2nd best thing and that's 4.4ghz. I am currently running 4.4 @ 18.5 multi with 240 FSB, HT link 2400 ( I have tried lowering it to about 2100 but fail to boot into windows) with my ram still at 6 - 6 - 6 - 18 2T ( I have tried putting it at 1T but cant boot into windows even without a OC ) with 2.0v @ 3.33 mult for 800 mhz. I haven't touched NB or SB voltage or any of that because I never have and I don't want to be over volting something I shouldn't. It's stable to boot into windows but the second I start Prime95 my first core always fails, I have no idea what to do at this point to make it stable so any suggestions would be great!

Iv tried everything I can think of, different ram timings, upping NB volt, SB volt, ram volt, lowering my HT to 2120 then to 1920. I have tried raising the NB freq and lowering it, everything I can think of shy from raising my Vcore which its already at 1.575, 1.552 in windows because of Vdroop. I cant seem to get prime 95 to run more then 10 minutes without 1 core failing. I'm at a complete loss at what else I can do at this point. I'm not even hitting the heat wall of 55c at load from prime I hit 49c max.

Maybe my chip just can't do 4.4ghz @ 1.552v... headscratch.gif
