Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD

As a note, I have no idea where this post SHOULD go, so I'm putting it here, so please move it if it needs to be moved.

So...I was perusing my local best buy today, gawking at the outrageous prices that they charge for...well pretty much everything. Until something caught my eye; thats right a Titanium HD! And what really staggered me was this: I picked it up and walked out of the store for only $65 US!

HOLY C**P. So now, I am hating myself, since I just recently spent the last two and some odd weeks trial and erroring between a X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro (Got for $90 at my local comp shop) and a Asus Xonar Essence STX (Got for $170 shipped, but I didn't want to spend the $70 unless I could validate it.)

So, now, much to my dismay, I have to send BOTH cards back to whence they came, since I am pretty sure, for only $65 US there isn't a single card out there that can beat the value I just secured for myself.

Unless one of you can convince me I am wrong. Being a true computer geek, I refrain from buying Best Buy and normally go straight to NewEgg or Fry's, and only visit it for consumer supplies, such as, oh, I dunno, Ipod cases or something. But I have to say this, THANK YOU BEST BUY!

I'm sure some of you are wondering about the point. Well, the point is this, I wanted to let you OCN'ers know that this is available at limited best buys this week only (Yes I know that goes in a different section). But I also was wondering if you wanted any comparison tests between the three cards before I send them back.

I reiterate the cards I currently have sitting in front of me:
  • ASUS Xonar Essense STX
  • Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD
  • Creative Labs X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro/Champion

If not, feel free to ignore this post.

:O
Was actually trying to decide between the ASUS Xonar and the Titanium HD myself, would appreciate the test results if possible.
Also, subbed, should be interesting.

Ok, at least one person said yes, so I'll be sure to do that. It'll most likely take me a few days, but I will post a test and review on my Overclocker's blog and post the link here, so if you are subscribed you'll get some kind of notification.

Also, keep in mind, I am not a professional, so I can't produce complete comprehensive tests such as those seen on Tom's Hardware. I'll do my best though. It'll be more like a "What its like to live with" audio comparison.

please do so, i'd like to know for myself too smile.gif

What Best Buy in Cali? And are you sure that this isn't just the regular Titanium? I know they have the regular one all the time for about $100, but I never see them carry the HD.

It's select Best Buys. My Best Buy was sold out and would not validate that price. Called BB and they too would not offer me one for that price. They say it's up to the store.

That said, the HD for 65 will not be beat by anything. Even at full price it's a great card. It's perfectly priced imo normally so at 50% off you scored like a bauss.

If you're looking for the best value card you have it. Especially at 65. If you're looking for the best card period. The STX might slightly have the upper edge, but since you have both cards, why not test them yourself.

I purchased the X-Fi Titanium Championship, and than ended up grabbing one of those Titanium HDs long before the Best Buy sale. I got mine @ 109.99, and even for that price I was very impressed.

I got in on the championship setup @ frys during their sale + rebate. $129 - 70 rebate = $59 + tax and you couldn't beat that setup with the front panel for the price.

I plan on trying out the STX when I grab a new set of Sennheisers. My HD590s are still screaming and love the sound coming out of them and the Titanium HD does an amazing job.
