Let him try, who knows. No wonder suddenly so many going Quadfire with 6970s.

This is the best advice. I just got my Toxic the other day, unlocked with the flip of a switch! I'm in the middle of overclocking my card now. so far I have a unlocked Toxic 6950 with a 940 Core clock and 5200Memory clock. Going to bring up the core to 940 or 980 then work on the memory. I can play BF3 @ 1080p on full ultra settings and it get beteen 45-60 FPS, if i drop the multi and AA down to half it holds a solid 60 FPS one of the best cards on the market in my humble opinion.

Well i have made a research about what you are saying and i was watching this post today:

http://www.overclock.net/amd-ati/909...-unlocked.html

that guy says that its better to keep the 6950 as it is and just oc it and it will get similar performance to 6970 and i have read many threads saying about problems with this unlocking so i would prefer to give my money on 2 6970s that doing that and be in danger/risk my card

If i buy an 6970 i can oc it further if i want and again it would be faster than an 6950 oc the difference in money isnt big so i dont have any problem with that i just want to know if it worths going to 6970 crossfire in my platform or i wont see any difference in fps if i go with 2 6950 crossfire.

read more about the TOXIC card first. It beats out 6970's all day long. There is a reason the TOXIC 6950 is sold out everywhere right now;P

i went from a gtx 580 to twin 6950s and don't regret my move... im going to suggest twin 6950s if your psu + powerbill can handle it
post #17 of 25
i say 6950 crossfire, preferably with some aftermarket cooling that would easily allow you to overclock to 6970 specs.

2xMSI 6950 Twin Frozr = $500 - easily overclock to 880mhz.
2xreference 6970 = $700

ty guys for your suggestions,i think my psu is gonna be ok with both configurations and about the electrical bill i am telling you that i had an 4870x2 and i had seen videos where it uses up to 550w!I havent ever seen more power hungry card xD.

Well now its time for the difficult question so that i make it clear what i am asking for: i just need to know if with an 6950 crossfire configuration i will have more gpu usage and about how much that would be dont forget i got q9550[i m gonna ofc to at least 3,8-40,]and if i get the 6970 crossfire configuration and the gpu usage is 60-70%[in both cards] is it fine?

I am asking because i want to get maximum performance out of them and have less bottleneck or the less i can have.

If gpu usage 60-70% is fine i will buy the 6970.

I also checked the toxic 6950 and its better than an 6950 but not from an 6970 at least in the 6-7 reviews that i saw and i will keep on reading.
