Jeez a programmer out of work? And here I thought my specialty (level design) was over saturated.

Almost glad I ended up getting into the home energy inspection field instead of using my game design degree (although I have been thinking about working on some android/iphone games/apps).

Uh have you ever played Lego Island (1 or 2), Rock Raiders, or Lego Racers? I feel bad for you if you haven't played those 90's classics.

Real Legos can get expensive pretty fast if you don't already have a ton of them. I don't have the heart to sell my old Legos, so I'll just keep telling people I'm saving them for my kids

This. Minecraft meets Gmod built on a Lego base.

To those saying it should have been like minecraft, you have to understand that it's a kids game that required moderation of all user generated content. LEGO didn't want people building giant penises in the world and a bunch of kids finding it and showing their parents. Also minecraft's building style doesn't work for LEGO bricks, which have actual connection points, and are not perfect cubes, and blocks in minecraft cannot rotate. Because all bricks are not cubes and can be rotated you lose the ability to get great performance by having all objects in the game be axis-aligned and having perfect cube bounding-boxes. I wouldn't expect most people to understand this, but let's just say that without these optimizations minecraft could not exist in a form anywhere near what it is now.

That is all understandable but we were imagining a different, separate game.

We had considered other projects, up until today. LEGO is moving in a different direction now.
