Memory Shopping Help

Hey guys,

I built my computer awhile ago, and I'm really looking to add at least another 6 gigs of RAM, as I've started maxing out my memory quite regularly.

I currently have this memory:

I was wondering...should I just purchase 6 more GB of it, or should I opt for some new memory? I see they have lots of 16GB packages today. Anyway, I'm not very familiar with performance differences, but I'd prefer to have way more than I'd need (on the order of 12-16 GB would be nice, as long as it runs well). Lately, I run A LOT of applications at once, and I've just been running out of memory left and right.

Thanks for the help!

P.S. This is my motherboard:

What do you do that you are running out of 6GB of memory? I have 16GB of Vengence and tbh not sure why i have it. I rarely go over 4-5 used....

I do a lot of things throughout the day and don't finish them, so I have a lot of things just open. Mostly, I'll have Skype, iTunes, a game lobby, a web browser with lots of tabs (Firefox and Chrome both get monstrous pretty quickly), one or two software IDEs, Photoshop. At the moment, I don't even have anything but my primary web browser, Skype and iTunes running and I'm still pushing 70%.

I think I've decided to buy 6 more GB (3x2GB) of the same memory I already have.

I run a ton of FF and IE multi windows with 10-20 open tabs /window while running active Outlook, Word, Excel and PPT with multi docs open at same time let alone my Adobe stuff and Nitro Pro plus a bunch of other RAM resource hog apps like GoldMine and PCAnywhere; all running simultaneously.

I've have 3 AMD rigs running 8GB, 8GB and 16GB RAM.

Corsair XMS3 — 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9)

At Frys, early this year, I paid $45/pair after in-store instant and mail-in rebates for each pair (had 2 of my buds, and 1 neighbor collect the rebate $$s at different addresses).

These specific XMS3s are in rigs that are unlocked cores and OC and zero problems running these at 1333 MHz. I merely use mobo OC presets and have not tried to get the 1600 MHz, yet, likely easily doable.

Next step up for Corsair is 'Vengence'

Good Luck and Good Fortune!
