In the market for a new headset 3X possiblities which would you recomend.....

I am new to OCN and I just wanted to ask a quick question. I am in the market for a new head set and I have narrowed it down to 3X possible choices 1)Corsair Vengeance 1300
2) Corsair HS1A
3)Steelseries Siberia V2.
I have a good sound card which is the ASUS Xonar DX. I do listen to some music, but mainly I used my headset for MMO gaming namely in the forum of EVE Online. Thus I need something that is going to be comfortable for extended gaming sessions. Which one of these headsets would you recommend?

I recommend none of those headsets.

"Gaming" and "Surround" headsets are overpriced, have poor sound, and have very poor reliability. If you want a quality headset that is comfortable, has good sound, and will last you a while, you should look at getting a pair of normal 2 channel LR headphones and a desk or clip-on mic.

For the $90 of the Steelseries Siberia V2, you could buy a pair of Sennheiser HD515 phones with the Zalman clip-on mic, and still have money left over:

^^^ He speaks the truth.

The first thing you learn after joining OCN. All "gaming" gear sucks. (Especially when it comes to headsets)

^I am inclined to agree^

2 days ago I went from a Plantronics Gamecon 777 7.1 headset to a Audio-technica AD700 w/clip on mic and a Xonar Essence STX. They are worlds a part in terms of quality I never knew existed.

From one gamer to another, try the recommendations they give you here at OCN. You will never go back to your old ways!

Thanks all I have a set of JVC HARX900 I use when listening to music. I thought that the clip on mic would lead the wires into getting all tangled up.
That is why I was hoping to get a set with a mono (one) wire like the ones I listed above.
Do you guys find the wires getting tangled when you use a clip on mic?

What they said, and if you want more choices in headphones aside from the 515 the ad700, a700, ATH-M50 and HD 555 are all nice choices.

I use the ATH-M50's and find that they do not get tangled up together.

Nope.

A quick fix would be to simply braid the cables together or even tape the mic wire to the headphone wire.

The Zalman Mic has clips throughout the length of the cord. Where you clip along the headset cord.
ISurprising I have my Zalman mic setup on my keyboard cord, pointing directly at me. No one hears the keys when i type anyway.

Now if you want a different pair of headphones you can look at the Superlux 668B. They are local to Langley, BC.
