Eyefinity Problem Games are a Slideshow - Page 2

6970 is enough for Eyefinity, I used an unlocked 6950 for a long time with Eyefinity. Of course you can't max settings, but it certainly won't be <10 FPS unless maxing everything including AA.

You might also try an older driver if the newest one doesn't work. If that won't help it's not the drivers causing the problem.

If it works fine with one display, it's unlikely there's anything wrong with the card, but you could check all the other connectors, i.e. seeing how it plays just with one side monitor. Unless you already did that. I just assume you meant it plays fine on the central monitor and didn't test the side monitors?

I really feels like people aren't reading the OP. Worst comes to worst I'd try a reformat. Reformat is usually do when I really can't figure something out though. It would make sure all old drivers are gone and no programs are interfering.

Also have you tried stopping afterburner (not just exiting) to see if it was maybe afterburner? Not sure how afterburner would slow it but it's worth a try.

Thread Starter
I have tested each monitor by itself, using both dvi ports, hdmi, and mini display port to dvi active adapter, and performance was perfect, no issues whats so ever when running games or furmark. As soon as I enable my eyefinity group and start a game, I get terrible performance ~5 fps avg in all games.

I disabled/unistalled msi afterburner and raedon pro just to make sure those programs werent messing with the videocard. I've also tried catalyst drivers all the way back to 11.6

I had a 6970 running eyefinity (3 X 1920x1080) before I bought the 2 X 6950s, and and I was getting decent frame rates in all my games. Obviously, settings had to be dropped to something realistic, but @ 6 frames a second, I'd say there's definitely something wrong.

I don't know where people are getting the idea that 6fps is to be expected... complete rubbish!!!

Here's a single 6950 running BF3 in eyefinity, and it looks a lot better than 6fps.

Have a look on youtube for 6970 eyefinity, and you'll see a single 6970 is more than capable of running decent frame rates.

Have you tried different types of eyefinity configurations? Like Portrait, or 2 display eyefinity? I know it's not a useful scenario but it might help recognizing the main culprit.

What sort of motherboard are you using? Perhaps it has some issue with PCIe slots that only comes across when you're going above a bandwidth limit that isn't exceed by single monitor. Other than that it might be that one of the cards is to blame and you should RMA it. Of course if you haven't tried doing a complete format and reinstall that's always an option before accepting a hardware malfunction.

I am afraid L-P-L or P-L-P doesn't work with Eyefinity.

Motherboard is ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO with 880 chipset http://www.guru3d.com/article/asus-m...usb3-review/21

AFAIK, bandwidth drop is exlusive to SLI/Crossfire with certain motherboard design.

@OP

This is stab in the dark.

Check using GPU-Z the lanes assigned to the card is PCIe x16 or x4.

If x4 could be the issue as:

1920 x 1080 = 2,073,600 pixels
5760 x 1080 = 6,220,800 pixels

If so, go into your BIOS advance options see if you can disable some of the devices sharing resources with the PCIe lanes:

1. Set Initial Display Adapter as PCIe.
2. Disable iGPU Multi-Monitor.
3. Disable ASM USB 3.0 Controller.
4. Disable ASM USB 3.0 Battery Charging Support.
5. Remove all other PCIe device you might have such as sound and network card that might take the bandwidth away.
6. Put the card at first PCIe x16.

Did you solve it?

If not, uninstall Afterburner and select "no" to keep settings. Restarts PC.

Select "restore factory defaults" from CCC upper right drop down menu. Restart PC.

Wait CCC to be prompted then select "advance". Check the Resolution and refresh rate in CCC and check Eyefinity Group.

If all correct, the Eyefinity should work now.
