You will never see the advertised speeds on the x58 platform, which is what you have. The Marvell SATA 6GB/s controller is garbage. People who have been saying use the Intel ports instead are correct, despite only being 3GB/s they are superior to the buggy and flakey Marvell ports.

You would need a current gen. Intel or AMD rig with their own SATA 6GB/s controller on board to get the speeds advertised for your SSD.

Yes, but I would say it isn't worth it, unless you mean SB-E, I did upgrade for that very reason and I truly miss X58 and my i7 930. But There are a lot of cool things I like about sandy bridge though. UEFI, Intel SRT, and uber overclocking. smile.gif

I'd say you'd get speeds close to the ones advertised. Probably within 50-75MB/s. You have to remember that most SSD manufacturers test their SSDs in "perfect" scenarios.
